Somehow, I seem to compel all but their obstetric histories from cashiers. |
|
As a result of my twenty-minute trip to the grocery store this morning, I can know share that cashier "Wendy" has a phobia regarding intercoms, is flying out to Arizona next week with her daughters, is presently afflicted with sinus issues brought on by recent changes in the weather, and in high school experienced a very painful episode on a plane involving a urinary tract infection and no antibiotics. In addition, her husband is a very traditional spouse and although she enjoys cooking, particularly grilling on the Weber grill they have on their recently remodeled deck, she feels mildly put upon by his frequent, albeit seasonal, demands for potato salad, which she doesn't care for, but makes for him.
"Wendy" would really like to put a pond in their backyard, but she and her husband are behind on taxes so that project will have to wait. She really likes my nails. She is going to get a pedicure and a manicure before her trip next week. She doesn't usually bother with her nails, because they split very easily, possibly because she doesn't consume enough calcium.

If you ever decided to become a psychologist or a detective I think that could work for you. :P

3. She told you she has kids |

I think that qualifies as partial obstetric history!

5. Is it okay if I just start recommending every single LaraMN thread I come across? |
|
I don't want to annoy you or anything, but your threads really deserve the distinction. Actually, I think they should be automatically highlighted and pinned to the top of the page. Maybe I'll start a petition.

7. If you're not getting the full obstetric history, you're not trying hard enough |
|
Can "Wendy" at least check and talk at the same time? I work in a grocery store and we used to have a woman who was unable to manage that. She was also unable to shut up which resulted in me being called from my department to check every five minutes because she'd have a line backed up to Health and Beauty while she nattered away about nothing. :nuke:

12. I should probably acknowledge that it's largely my fault. |
|
This happens to me all the time because I egg people on and I'm a blabbermouth.
Maybe it's a Minnesota thing- we can't have those uncomfortable conversational silences so we fill them up by talking endlessly about pretty much anything (hence the infamous "Minnesota good-bye").

11. I was ready to kill a cashier yesterday |
|
Some crazy old dude at Safeway babbling all sorts of crap, most of it about alcohol and how he was going to go home to a nice beer and was I going out for a drink and on and on.
I didn't have the heart to tell him I was on my way to an AA meeting. I thought it'd be simpler just to kill him but my shrink says I can't do that right now.

|
cause I'm a big blabbermouth too!
What's really good is when the person in line behind me is also a blabbermouth, cause then we get a bona fide bull session goin on. :D
