Seriously!? I went looking for a couch and chair this week and EVERY store I went into had at least 20 different busts of statues of Buddha. I don't get the connection between the enlightened one and mass manufactured leather sofas.

3. Lots of people like Oriental decor.
Some people even follow the principles of Buddhism, believe it or not.

Stuff like, "Don't kill, don't steal, don't hurt people or animals, have compassion for all living things". Stuff like that.

5. that's funny, I was wondering about all the Buddha statues
suddenly in store fronts around here.

concluded some warehouse must have sold a lot off at very low prices.

the burrito place around the corner is using theirs to advertise a "Buddha Burrito":tofu, "Asian" vegetables, rice and lettuce. gotta remember to try it at some point...

6. Religion is a business. Furniture is a business.
At least the furniture store should actually deliver a sofa for your money.

7. Where do they make Buddha statues, and how much does labor cost there?
If the world were turned around, crucifixes, pietas, virgin mary, and holy family statues would be dirt cheap statuary. Unless Italy's economy really goes into the shitter, don't expect to see this.
