There are legal downloads out there as well as illegal ones. Same as the web in general.

but some forums and websites are so paranoid that the RIAA and other agencies will crack down on them hard.

I use Azureus, mainly to download tv show episodes that are not yet on DVD, then delete the files, as well as for completely legal fileshares that would otherwise take days.

I downloaded the entire first season of a old tv show that wasn't avable on DVD. Also downloaded a poker book that I already owned because I wanted to be able to search for text. And most recently, I downloaded a package containing the articles of impeachment and related CSPAN clips.

it's an annoying client at times because it tends to be a memory hog but it has a pretty easy interface. As for files, I mainly download British TV shows (stuff I can't get in this country) but I won't post the names of the sites on a public board.

I recently torrented an Australian series that's not available in this part of the world. And a BBC doco I couldn't find anywhere. And sometimes if I want to sample a series I'm interested in and can't find it in streaming format, I'll torrent the first episode. If I like it, I'll go out and buy the DVD.

If you want to find torrent files then you can google for them but if you invoke the name of the present resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC... then things can get interesting.

BTjunkie for anything else I can't find above.

If anybody wants an indietorrents invite I'm looking to trade for Waffles or one of the other big music sites, or somewhere that does Audiobooks.
