I think so, but I'm not so sure I don't think he ends up better off somehow.

Dementia of any kind sucks. To die peacefully in your sleep isn't such a bad deal if your life is pretty much been taken away, first by Alzheimer's, then by losing your rights...

This was my shocking news when I arrived at work this morning.

Not many people die on a psychiatric unit, but a geriatric psychiatric unit, well, there is always a chance either way.
