1. It would have been great if |
|
Adama collapsed in front of the Statue of Liberty and started yelling "YOU BLEW IT UP! DAMN YOU!!!" ala Planet of the Apes.

I had NO idea what to expect when they got down there.
The 4 have outed themselves. There is one more, somewhere.

5. Did you get the feeling that the last Cylon had to be on the basestar? |
|
Deanna said "FOUR" in the fleet. So who? Adama? Roslin? Baltar? Helo?

6. I was thinking it had to be that, or the 5th was on Earth |
|
the second one was ruled out at the end of the episode.

16. Not necessarily. There would be no tactical advantage to nuking rural areas, |
|
So there would be survivors of a cataclysmic nuclear war.

14. As far as the show, or humanity? |
|
For the show, there are two major mysteries to solve: 1. Who is the final Cylon, and 2. Who manufactured Starbuck's Viper? They're also still at war with the Ones, Fours, and Fives.
For humanity, they have to find the habitable sections of the planet and decide if they're worth settling, and search the planet, Sol System, and neighboring systems for survivors, as well as preparing to defend themselves against the Cylon fleets.

18. Not necessarily. There could be a non-supernatural explanation for |
|
Starbuck's Viper, and the visions of dead people could just be hallucination.

26. There's a non-supernatural explanation for her Viper, she went through that wormhole and arrived |
|
at Earth pre-Apocalypse and they sent her back in a shiny new Viper along with the ability to find Earth again so that she could stop the pending destruction. Now they need to find out how to get back through that wormhole so they can get back to Earth at a different point on the timeline. The wormhole is the missing piece. That's assuming that they won't leave the story with such a dark ending. Maybe they're just out of luck and need to find yet another new home. I think they gave us enough hints through the last few episodes that I believe time travel is involved and the climax will come when they figure out a way to avoid the destruction of Earth, like they were unable to do with Caprica. They'll get a second chance to heal the wounds of war with the Cylons and avoid the mistakes they made with the destruction of Caprica.
Question is, was the destruction caused by them arriving at Earth in the first place? Are they simply completing the circle by returning to Earth where they started the battle? In other words, did they destroy Earth and flee to Caprica and now that Caprica is destroyed, are they returning to Earth? In order for them to send Starbuck back with a new Viper, they had to have the Viper technology in the first place, so how did they get it? Did the tech originate on Earth, or was it brought there by the Galactica?
The visions of dead people were just Roslyn's conscience speaking to her, so I wasn't viewing that as a time travel indicator.

22. No - you really need to start from the miniseries that started it all |
|
It's really a 4 season-long maxi-series where most things are connected, so you can't really pick it up now without missing a ton of things.

19. I was stunned. I felt emotionally drained by the end of the episode. |
|
I was convinced that the last half of the season was going to be a race to Earth... Not two minutes later - HOLY CRAP!! They're AT Earth!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!
And them moments later... :wow:
Earth has been decimated. Nobody lives there. It looks like nobody's lived there for quite a long time. Something happened a long time ago...
But what? And how did Starbuck get back to the fleet with a fully repaired Viper? Where is the 5th super-secret Cylon model?
The last half of this season couldn't possibly come fast enough... SIGH.

20. I knew it wasn't going to end well when they jumped into close orbit, |
|
And there were no satellites on DRADAS, no orbital defense platforms, no radio transmissions, no intercepting fighters, and no anti-aircraft missiles. Even in the modern day, they could not have made that landing unmolested.

24. Im not sure if they've ever displayed the ability to detect life signs in the Star Trek sense on BSG |
|
It seems like they detect water, tilium, algae, etc. by chemical analysis or something, but nothing specific enough to be able to detect humans.

And wouldn't they have had a probe to detect the conditions first?
But I guess that wouldn't have made for such a dramatic ending.

29. It was quite obvious to me they were just building up the biggest possible |
|
cliff-hanger by rushing everything forward as fast as possible. They could have cut to them jumping near Earth and ended the season. Or even a Raptor coming back and saying it's there.

31. But what a cliffhanger it was! |
|
Of course, now we have to wait, and wait, and wait, for the last episodes.
I'm looking forward to them, it's going to be interesting to see how they handle the disappointment of finding Earth, only to find that it's gone through its own cataclysm, how the very tenuous human/cylon alliance holds up, and of course, who is the final cylon.

33. they still haven't solved the building cylon "worker class" rebellion, either |
|
I thought that was what the cliffhanger was going to be, the shuttles entering the atmosphere and then the accompanying raiders opening fire.
this was a bigger kick in the balls.

35. The Centurions must have rather limited interests. I don't see them |
|
taking up knitting. Their presence raises a bunch of questions. Like, if all Centurions have two guns for hands, who loads the guns? There must be an entire class of Cylons we haven't seen yet that takes care of the Centurions, the Raiders, etc.
