My sister-in-law's boyfriend's parrot Bob has passed on, 35 years too soon.
I'm not a bird person, but I'm a pet person, so I can understand the grief he's going through. To celebrate the life of Bob, I thought I'd share a few of the brilliantly funny things Bob used to do.
One of the better ones is "Bobber Man", his version of the Beach Boys classic "Barbara Ann", which he interpreted to be about him. All you had to do was start singing at him "Bob Bob Bob, Bob Bobber-Man..." and he'd finish for you, and go on forever. Dipping his little birdy head and singing. Good stuff.
He somehow picked up the unmistakable sounds of lovemaking, which was pretty hilarious when he'd just decide to start sounding like a bad porn for no reason, maybe during dinner. :) "Ohh... ohhh... oh yeah... OHHH!!... Give it to me...!"
His other classic: at one point he had lived with an uncle who was dying of emphysema. So you'd be sitting quietly in the living room, and Bob would start mimicking this awful cough, finishing with the uncle's favorite refrain. Picture this, maybe you're watching TV and Bob hops over to your shoulder to say this:
"Braaaack... cough cough.... (phlegm sounds)... (spit sound) ... C*CKSUCKER!!! :D
Here's to Bob. :toast:

Parrots are so cool. I would have loved to have seen him sing "his" song ... and the cough.
(Our cockatiel Buster really likes the Ramones and pounds his head on his perch to the beat.)

3. Oh, I'm sorry Bob is gone... |

He sounds like he was a cool ol' bird. My uncle had a crow he taught to speak. He used to say "He didn't know the gun was loaded." And "Why's everyone always picking on me?" And when we were little kids, around 7, my uncle died when I was 8, the bird started cursing a lot. It was the funniest thing to a seven year old that a bird was cussing. RIP, Bob. :toast: Duckie

bob's parent should write all these things down. after my cat passed in april, i did a little 'ode' to him. never forget how he did this, never forget that. if i didn't have cats, i might be able to have a bird. but cats are less needy.
