Closest thing to being married - reception in the DU Lounge!!!!
S.O. and I need to show proof that he's a legitimate "domestic partner" in order for him to get covered with my health insurance at my new job.

So we went to the cheapest notary in town this morning and got 2 wills, 2 health care power of attorneys and 2 durable power of attorneys signed and notarized All deeply romantic at the tiny Auto Tags place, with 20 people squeezed into a small room while carpenters repaired the door and let all the air conditioning out.

Total cost to notarize 6 documents: $30
Cost of downloading will from internet: $19.99
Cost for SO to finally have healthcare coverage: Priceless!

The "bride" wore a golf skirt, nice matching t-shirt, and flip-flops. The "groom" wore sneakers, grey socks, black shorts, and a black t-shirt. The less said about the witnesses and their poor, hot, justifiably pouting child, the better.

Reception to be held in the DU Lounge - all are invited

1. I'll volunteer to drink too much and hit on one of the bridesmaids
...And bring up inappropriate stories during the toast. :D

9. Thanks - we're getting too old not to have health care
It's one thing in your 20s, but after that....too scary. Just to know that if he goes to the ER, he won't face months of collections calls makes me sleep sounder.

Everyone should be able to get affordable health care -- this country deserves better!

10. The only fun part was the Jimmy Buffett concert last night
Hot, humid, notary offices - not so much!

But the reception in the DU Lounge was great, too, although Robb got a little carried away with my slutty girlfriends....

Congrats. My SO and I considered domestic partnership so I'd be covered under his insurance -but we had to have lived together for 6 months, I said "Like hell! I'm not living with you!"

31. Well, we've been together 15 years, so that's not an issue
We never really made the decision to live together - but in 1993, a huge ice storm hit Philadelphia, and he couldn't get to his hillside neighborhood, so he just sort of never went home.

He said that his sister the RN could take care of most of his health problems, and I pointed out that I didn't relish the thought of her trying to take out his appendix on our kitchen table....

I had thought we were together 16+ years, but we found an old program from the show we were doing together when we met, and we've only been together a mere 15 years..

I forgot you had met the "groom" at Juliefest!

29. True story
We were at the wedding of a friend, who met her fiance online at a Christian dating site. He was a bigwig at the company that (at the time) owned Dunkin Donuts, so they had a donut wedding cake, much like the Twinkie Cake you gave us for our reception.
