Major GOP Gossip!!
http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/04/02/ana04003.html
It looks like a very high profile "sanctity of marriage" idiot is about to be served with divorce papers!
<snip> We have received reports from numerous CREDIBLE sources that a "role model" GOP Governor who touts the sanctity of marriage is about to be served with divorce papers.

Furthermore, this particular governor, should the rumor prove to be true is allegedly being divorced for sexual hijinks that would make the GOP appear to be hypocrites extraordinaire (as if there were any doubt) on both the monogamous marriage issue (i.e., adultery) and the issue of homosexuality.

One more thing, again if this rumor proves true, let us just say it will be a major embarrassment to George W. Bush, Mr. Hypocrisy himself. That is not because Bush has anything whatever to do with the alleged incident and alleged pending divorce suit (and we mean that). It is for reasons that will quickly become apparent should this rumor move to the divorce filing stage. <end snip>

Thought you guys could use a little laugh this morning. Have a good weekend!
Duckie

4. It is! If true, it will be downright HILARIOUS!
Rumor has it that the GOP bigwigs are putting pressure on Mrs. Perry not to file, and to keep quiet.

5. A gay dalliance?
That should open up the dialogue somewhat.

Rick's hair is awfully perfect for a straight guy.

15. The wife and kids I suppose I feel sorry for...
Governor Goodhair, however, is fair game. I don't care who he sleeps with frankly. I just want to see him twist in the wind for being such a fucking hypocrite.

What's your take on this? In your opinion does this seem like bullshit or does it have the feel of credibility?

22. I'm skeptical, overall.
It *could* be true, but I'd say it's less than 50-50. Just a gut feeling.

30. A lot of smoke
for there to be no fire.

There are lots of underground reports of Bush and cronies perverse excesses (ref. Nebraska, Yale cheerleading et al). Should one of the bricks in the wall come unstuck, we could see an avalanche of revelations.

16. If it's so sacred
Then why is it the least sacred seem to be the best at it. Recent surveys (Barna Research Group) show that atheists are far likely to maintain a marriage than Christians. The divorce rate is higher amongst believers.

Variation in divorce rates by religion:
Religion % have been divorced
Jews 30%
Born-again Christians 27%
Other Christians 24%
Atheists, Agnostics 21%

Just asking.

21. In some sects
there is more pressure to pair off and procreate, even if it might not be the right decision at the time. So, I think more people wind up marrying the wrong person.

In my own congregation nobody says anything and I'm certainly not derided for my singleness, but the fact is I am one of 3 single women in the congregation. So eventhough it's not expressed, I do feel the pressure.

19. Buncha rumor links at this site.
Just scroll down.

http://www.burntorangereport.com/archives/001085.html

All very unvetted, of course, but love that name, Becky Beaver. Prepackaged Leno and Letterman etc.

Example:

This is firsthand news from a well-connected lawyer I know in Austin:

--Anita Perry has hired Becky Beaver, the most notorious ballbreaker divorce attorney in Austin,
to represent her. She will be filing for divorce on grounds of adultery, naturally.

--Sec. of State Jeff Connor (Gov. Perry's lover) used to work at Akin Gump (very large law firm)
and was well-known among his colleagues as being gay. They were surprised that Perry picked
him for the position given his sexual orientation, in fact. Now, of course, they understand why.

and this...

I heard back from both . One refused to comment, the other said they're well aware of the
story but don't want to print anything on it until they get some sort of official confirmation, since the
governor's office is "vigorously denying" the whole affair right now.

31. Haley reminds me of Jon Hinson.

The year after Hinson resigned, Barbour, then the state GOP executive director, ran against Senator Stennis.

32. this smartass wanted to really really bad.
but I was good.

The funniest part was that in the 10 minutes I was there, I came across two men that worked there who set off my gaydar. I just kept thinking "ahhh, job security". And then I got mad at myself for judging because...well...I don't exactly wish Goodhair on to the gay community. They have it bad enough as it is with harrassement, abuse, inequality, etc. No need to add to their troubles, right?

Now that Geoff guy...I don't know him, he could be a complete tool, but from his picture he looks like a sweetie pie. For a homewrecker and all.
