Anyone ever had their ankle screwed back together? |
|
I shattered mine on Memorial day and they had to bolt it all back together. I'm wondering what the long term effects of this will be. Stiff ankle, loss of range of motion, arthritis?

May 1985 I fell under my horse and his hoof crushed my ankle. I had it screwed back together. The first 5 yrs were good then it started to lock up every now and again. Arthritis slowly set in. The last 5 years have been painful. Last year my ankle was not only bone on bone but I was unable to bend it. In March of this year I had a total ankle replacement and just this week I'm starting full weight bearing. I'm in pain still and have a great deal of swelling.
Insurance companies put up a huge fight to cover ankle replacements. I should have had my ankle replaced at least two years ago and my recovery would have been better. My tendons have shortened.

2. I shattered mine my Sophomore year in HS |

during the first football game of the season.
I had bolts and pins in there, even had some that needed to be taken out.
I am unsure of what else is or was, in there, but it has been fine for me (I am 32 now) except for the re-injuring I did during a motorcycle wreck.
