Garage sale find. 25 cents.

First Edition, 1960, later printing, hard cover with dust jacket.

It now has a place of honor on my book shelf at home!

Great book, great copy of a great book...

:woohoo:

Great find!

Pay attention to garage sale vintage stereo gear as well, lest those expensive tube amps slip through your fingers :)

21. Can you explain about the stereo gear??
What is a good thing to get?

When we moved I couldn't find our bookcase speakers, so on impulse I bought these oversized clodhoppers at a thrift store. The sound has been great.

And good thing too - it was about eight months before the original speakers surfaced.

19. Congrats! Quite a find. I don't suppose you have this book?

I need it for my continuing ed class. I only need to read two essays, but I keep ordering it from the library network website, and it never gets here. So, I guess I'm gonna have to buy it.

Anyway, congrats on _To Kill a Mockingbird_. Quite a good hunter you are!

22. Wow!
I once bought a first edtion, signed book that was out of print for less than five bucks. I almost told the bookstore owner he was making a mistake, but thought "Buy it and keep your mouth shut". Looked it up later and the usual asking price was several hundred dollars.

Khash.

28. I think I had that same edition years ago.
It was a book club edition--that's where I bought it--whether it was first edition I don't know, but it had the same dust cover.

Yeah, I would be more excited were it a real $12,000 first edition and not a book club 1st Edition.

But it is still very cool.

29. Kinda like the time about 15 yrs ago when i stumbled upon a 1st Ed. hardback of
Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire" in some sprawling backwoods used bookstore in Virginia. Mint condition, and i paid $10 for it; i resold it a month later at a horror con for about $500.

Would have held onto it, but a friend of mine had given me a signed 1st Ed. for Christmas the year before...
