Happy Fathers Day Dhalgren!
As usual my card will arrive late but I wanted to say Happy Fathers day to you on DU since I know you would see that way before any mail ran. Yes, Dhalgren is the father of bamacrat. He introduced me to this site back in 02 or 03 and I joined when I got a non free email in 04. Thanks for raising me the right way all those years when i was a lazy ass kid who would rather run up phone bills than help out around the house.

:hi:

3. Love Delaney!
Thanks for the happy FD! With a kid like bamacrat, I am a lucky father - his sister is a blast, too...

4. Happy Father's Day Dhalgren!
Never was able to finish that book.

But I loved "Stars In My Pocket Like Grains of Sand" and the story "Time considered as a helix of semiprecious stones".

But Delaney is difficult. What race is The Kid in Dhalgren? No one seems to agree. What are the genders of some of the characters in Stars? Why did the singer in Time/Helix catch himself on fire when all he had to do was sing? (OK, I kinda get that one.)

Khash.

5. Thanks Khash. I appreciate it.
Delaney is perhaps the best writer in Twentieth Century American Literature (just my opinion). I have read "Dhalgren" three times and I still can't tell you what it is actually about. But I can tell you it is a great, great book.
