Why would my freezer suddenly start making clear ice?
It used to be cloudy, now all at once it's clear. The refrigerator is going out, so I'm trying to figure out whether the freezer is, too. Just got back from a trip to find barely-cool orange juice and several plastic containers blown up like little balloons.

1. It's a sign from God.
I don't know what the hell it means, but it must be divine intervention of some sort.

2. No, there aren't any Virgin Maries or Willie Nelson images.

I think it means the ice is freezing more slowly, but can't confirm that.

3. The cloudiness comes from tiny air bubbles

4. Or maybe your freezer has started to vibrate
It is an old trick to vibrate water as it freezes to get the air bubbles out and make the ice more clear.

If your freezer has developed a problem in one of its motors, it could be vibrating and causing the ice to be more clear.

You might check it out, could save you on a big repair bill later.

6. Clear ice is a sign that the water froze more slowly
So, either the temperature in your freezer is warmer, or you're filling the trays with warmer water...
