A really, really gross question. Not for the sqeamish!!!
My co-workers and I had a situation with a psychotic person. He was drinking his own urine.

Can it physically hurt you or can the body process it. Like can the kidneys and liver run into trouble trying to metabolize it?

Sorry, but I am curious

3. If you're adrift on the open ocean, you SHOULD drink your urine.
Can't drink the seawater, after all.

4. It can dehydrate you, that's about it
Urine is sterile when exiting the body.

6. I'm not a doctor, but...
I would imagine that taking in your body's waste would not be good for the system. If anything, I would think it's bad on the taste buds. I have not medical reason to back that up...hopefully a nurse or doctor can explain this one.

7. Just curious...
Was there any particular reason he was drinking his urine? (i.e., part of some paranoid delusion, etc.)

What an interesting (in a yucky way) manifestation of psychosis...

10. Sounds like they have Pica
Which causes people to ingest bizarre things. It;s a psychological disorder that should be treated.
