Question for Vista users... |
|
I have to purchase a new computer. Most of my work is done writing, manipulating data, accounting stuff and tax returns. Nothing special or out of the ordinary.
Since all of my tax programs for the past six years are based around XP, will I be able to run them off of Vista?
The programs are basically a gussied up Excell spreadsheet.
Should I bite the bullet and get Vista or search around for one that still has XP?

But he didn't know if the programs are interchangable...
Sorry!
I think you can still get XP...
I know I did when I bought my laptop...

You should check the websites of the various software packages to be sure.

5. I'm getting to that point. |
|
But I had some problems with spreadsheets and word docs from 2007, which, I believe is all Vista. Nothing seriouse, mind you, but I wonder if there won't be sometime in the near future when Office 2003 will no longer be able to cohabitate with XP versions of office.

6. Hey! I know the answer to this one.... |
|
I run Office 07 on XP SP3. Vista is not required.
The reason I have not had my office migrate to Vista is because of a conflict with Adobe PDF and our tax & write-up programs.
The internal PDF print function is still not operating properly in Vista.
My office is paperless as much as possible.

7. My last PC took a shit last year, (XP) and I could only buy a Vista. |
|
I hated it, and still do. Everything is all changed around, and finding simple setup things annoys the shit outta me. I finally figured out enough to function.
Then, you know what? My 76 year old mother decided she needed to get a PC, and email. *groan* Mind you, she didn't even know the difference between click and double click. But she got her PC, and we got it all set up with a router, so we could have two PC's in the same house.
OMG, it's too aggravating and distressing to account for what we went through with that. *groan* But she does know how to double click now and do emails, and I also set her up with Google. But it's just about driven me insane in the process.

8. I sampled Vista aka "The Broken OS" for my home PC |
|
And was so annoyed by the constant "Are you sure? Are you sure you're sure" messages it was gone in 48 hours.
Windows XP x64 is the best PC OS there is.

and Publisher 98, both work ok, although I'm not a power user in either. Other than that I'm not real impressed with Vista.
