I have a question about Family Guy
Is the plot important?

Most of the episodes I've enjoyed I could not recount what the episode was about.

. or is it okay if I only watch for the stupid allusions to pop culture from a decade or two ago?

1. plot?
I never noticed. The show still makes me chuckle, however.

18. I hear ya...
it's pretty rough getting through an entire episode.

But then when you do, you come across little gems like Peter referring to "Sex and the City" as "a story about three prostitutes and their mother."

3. no
Which is why the movie was about the last time I could handle Family Guy.

I used to be a big fan, but it became kinda unfunny after obscure reference jokes being the driving force of every episode.

6. I'm sorry but honestly it has literally been YEARS since anybody, writers or audience
has asked about a Family Guy plot, and I'm not just being a smart ass.

Seriously... "plot" as an element takes a back seat every chance it gets. Either to semi-"humor" or to a crude stab at a suspense film the plot is almost always a foreign financed also ran thrown in because there are a few old incredibly old folks out there who can't figure out how to watch a movie without the same very old, very tired plot standards. Just like Escanaba In Da Moonlight or whatever the fuck it was called.

7. 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' was rather lacking in plot as well
And continuity and production values and all that other crap that's vital to teevee entertainment.

Yet, it's the funniest comedy in history.

Go figure.

10. I didn't know there was a plot to the show.
I thought it was a bunch of toilet humor and vague references to the 80s.

14. family guy is funny but gets old after awhile.
simpsons in its prime was much stronger, since it had a story and you cared about the characters.

16. What is this "plot" of which you speak?
Is this some post-Renaissance branch of literary thought? Or does it derive from the ancient Athenians or perhaps-

<farrrrrrrrrt>

Whew! Feels like that meatball sub I had for lunch is taking the express elevator down!

20. No. The plot is generally just an excuse to hang jokes like this around:

Family Guy is funny as hell but I still think that Simpsons in its prime (it's been years) is the best due to better characters that you care more about, and some of the stories being decent.
