Did you call your father today?
I did. And I have a couple friends whose fathers have passed, and I took them each a couple candles to light tonight in honor of their fathers.

And, I know, Holidays are a bitch for those who have lost loved ones. I have one or two in mind here when I say that, and there are some Holidays that are just wretched for me too.

My father is still alive, and perhaps not for long. It made me feel good to make the long distance call today to tell him I love him.

Other Holidays are the major shits though.

I love ya, and I do care about you. And you all know who you are.

He was very excited to tell me about his new iPhone.

6. You flatter me!
But tell the truth, it's only because I told you that good story about my dawg interrupting me and my ex during sex when we didn't know he was hiding out in the closet! You vixen, you! LOL!

I very much enjoyed talking to my dad today, and telling him "I Love You". He is failing in health, so I feel some sadness too. They are coming to Omaha in July, and I am truly looking forward to it.

I am going to make the most of it, because I fear it will be the last time I ever see him. :(

Thank you, I like you too! :loveya:

3. Actually, no, I didn't...
We have never observed Father's Day in my family...

And the same was true in my husband's family, when his parents were alive...

I do call them regularly, though...

5. Not really necessary.
We live in the same house. He's not nearly as vibrant and energetic as he was when I was a kid, but he still gets a lot done.

It felt nice when I set up his present and card near his work lunchbox. He really got a kick out of that.

12. I feel the same way about some other family members, who died way too young.
That's why I hate most Holidays.

17. Yeah I know
Sometimes I'll see something or hear something or do something and want to call my sister and tell her about it. And then it hits me. She's been dead for almost 14 years and I can never call her again. Then the pain starts.

18. Oh khash
That makes me so sad.

My two sisters are still alive; it would be so sad to think of them not being here.

20. It gets sadder
I was there when she died, holding her hand. She was in a coma at that point and everyone, the family (including me), the doctors, decided it was time to turn the machines off. They tried to kick me out but I wouldn't let them. My family still think I'm sick because of that. But nobody dies alone if I can help it.

Khash.

You are someone that I would sure like to give a big hug in person.

19. I called him after the Lakers game.
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 03:15 AM by puerco-bellies
We talked about how badly they have been playing this series. We both are fans, but don't think they are playing like champions. We do believe that if they can pull the next game out of their ass they will win the championship.

For the very first time in my life I was wished happy fathers day and it applied. As my "new" kids stepped out of the den for bed they both wished me happy father's day. Cool.

Edited to include a picture of my kids from last year in Yellowstone.
