My Stepdad Just Died

[Parche]

He was on Omaha Beach 6June,1944 D-Day, went back and forth 3times from the ship to the shore
piloting the landing craft.
He was a Captain in the Eugene Fire Department for many years

I am glad we went down to Eugene yesterday to see him for the last time ,as
he had asbestos poisoning,was laboring with every breath, and was on morphine.
He was more of a Father to me then my real dad

We are losing our history in the passing of the WWII vets. My father passed away in December he was in the Battle of the Bulge and in Patton's third army as a machine gunner. I got the chance to ask him lots of questions in those last few months. Passing on the great things they did is what I feel we can do for them. I'm glad you got to see him. Again I'm so sorry.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My stepdad is doing better. His cancer (prostate) is being treated. He and Mom are coming over for supper tonight. Nine year anniversary for them, and 6 year anniversary for Mom's heart surgery. I am so thankful for each moment.
