my boyfriend and i spent a couple nights in the mountains for what was my first time tent camping trip in probably 15 years. the weather was perfect and that big, blue rocky mountain sky was clear as a bell the whole time...i'd forgotten just how beautiful the night sky is. the tent had a mesh dome with a rain cover you could put over it and we would just laid in the tent and watched the stars both nights before we went to sleep :)
we got back yesterday morning, dirty and smelly, but extremely relaxed. it was so nice to get out of town for a few nights and i can't wait to do it again.
the road to the site we wanted was closed, so we just drove around a bit until finding a suitable site in the same area. it wasn't a bad spot, lots of wood and no other people (although we were a bit closer to the road than i would have liked and there was a fucking yappy dog that started barking at dusk and didn't stop for hours both nights we were there).
we went fishing at one of the nearby lakes
and we made a hobo extravaganza dinner over the camp fire. potatoes, beef hot links, fire roasted red peppers and corn, baked beans and a pink lady apple doused with pbr and jack daniels in a cast iron skillet (sounds gross perhaps, but it was damn tasty).
