Questions for anyone who has used Chantix to quit smoking. |
|
I am on my 3rd day of Chantix - still on one pill a day and I haven't quit smoking yet. But other than the cigarettes I have in the morning before I take the pill, I'm not getting any pleasure out of any the rest of the day.
So is this how it works? I just won't get any pleasure from them so I will stop? I guess I am expecting something magical to happen but am wondering if this is all there is to it.
I'm not looking for medical advice here, just interested in what other people experienced.

1. After a few days of no pleasure from smoking, you begin to realize how |
|
Pointless and disgusting it is. This allows you to cut way back on your intake after a few days. Then you keep cutting back until you aren't having anymore.
It's not good to have any smokes before taking your morning pill. You're defeating the purpose. You need to take the pill before any smokes.
I quit for about a month, but lapsed because I was still drinking. The next batch of Chantix is now staring at me accusingly from the kitchen counter, where I talk to it briefly every day.

2. I'm assuming when I get to taking 2 pills, the 2nd one will last |
|
through the early morning. I'll know by Wed am if this works. Or I'll have to take it on an empty stomach.
Thanks for sharing, I am starting to feel the pointlessness and didn't know if there was more to it.

check and recheck your mental response, and probably, just.don't.drink. At all.
I know someone who ended up shot dead while in the middle of a psychotic episode - which was almost certainly induced by Chantix.

7. Thanks for the warning. I am trying to stay very aware of my |
|
mental state because after a bad experience with Zyban, I was a little hesitant to try this. I don't altogether like how the Chantix is making me feel but it's not overwhelming and if it becomes so, I'll stop. My husband is looking out for me too (as are my kids) :-)

who is a pharmacist, recently started taking it.She tells me it takes a couple of weeks for it to saturate the receptors in the brain that nicotine latches onto. She also says that if it is not working after three months to stop taking it. She also said that a very small percentage of people get really psychotic while on it.
