Hell Freezes Over: The Seattle Mariners finally fire Bill Bavasi
If you're not a Mariners fan, I apologize, but sheesh, I've been waiting five long years for this day.

The Mariners finally said "Sayonara" to a guy who singlehandedly trashed the best farm system in MLB. We now have the worst record in baseball as well.

Question: What took them so long?

1. I heard this earlier today, and all I can say is, IT'S ABOUT TIME!
This year is a total loss, but hopefully they will find a new GM who doesn't have his head up his ass.

3. SeattleGirl, do you want in on the McLaren pool?
I say he's gone before the All-Star break.

The fans are out for blood.

:hi:

5. Oooh, I didn't know there WAS a McLaren pool!
Sure! And I agree; I bet he's gone by the All-Star break too.

And yeah, the fans ARE out for blood.

9. I called it, therefore, all your pools are belong to me
;-)

We're together on this. He's gone before the All-Star break. I'm wondering who else is going to get traded, and quickly.

2. Congratulations - onward and upward!
:D

Being a dyed in the wool baseball fan, I so understand your plight.

4. I looked up the Mariners like a month ago when the BoSox first played 'em.
I wasn't impressed by the .300-something record--owwwww.

Hope you can have a better rest-of-season and a stronger season next year.

7. And who will hire his replacement? The same boobs who hired Bavasi in the first place
I'm ENTIRELY unconvinced that they've learned a DAMN thing that would lead them to make a better choice this time around.

This front office is rotten to the core. Bavasi was a symptom, not the cause.

8. Mojambo, I'm with you
At the same time, Mr. Bavasi didn't do much to acquit himself.

The housecleaning needs to start at the top. Mr. Armstrong needs to go. The owners need to come up with a replacement spokesperson as well. The manager? Gone. Let's unload some of these guys that are costing us a mint and not doing shit, too.

I'm in a bad, bad mood.

10. As long as Armstrong is around this franchise is in trouble
I'd very much like to be rid of his boss, Howard Lincoln, but that's not feasible. Lincoln is too tied in with ownership. He'll be with this franchise until ownership changes.

Armstrong though... GTG.

15. And DOWN GOES MCLAREN.

Putting Vidro at the 3 spot for half a season...

It's a fucking miracle he wasn't fired months ago.

17. I had a feeling that he wasn't even going to make the All-Star break
Hey, SeattleGirl, we win, huh?

Sheesh. Where's my baseball team, anyway? I told DH the other night that I was betting Lou Piniella wants to cry when he thinks about what's happened to the M's since he left.
