I Want to Propose a Ban on Break-Up Songs.
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 06:52 PM by JerseyGirlDem
If legislators can push a ban on smoking in bars and pool halls, then surely they can do the same by banning break-up songs and sad love songs in supermarkets and department stores.

Last night, I had to run a couple errands. I hop in the car, and the first thing I hear is Pearl Jam's "Black". The rock stations have been playing this one to death because Pearl Jam is in town this week. So I tossed a Doors CD in the player and all was good.

I run into the ShopRite for some food. As I'm walking in the door, I hear "When I Need You". Jeez. A couple more benign songs, and then "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough". Cut me a break. After one more upbeat song, then comes the holy grail of depressing, just-find-me-a-bridge-so-I-can-jump-now, heartache/heartbreak songs....."I Can't Live (If Living is Without You)". Craptacular.

I manage to survive that fiasco, and so I headed to Rite Aid to pick up a prescription. I wouldn't have to be in there for more than 5 minutes tops, right? But they had to make sure that I heard "Baby, Come Back" before I left. WTF!!!!

I think it's time to put a stop to the madness that is break-up songs. There is nothing beneficial about them; they distract from the purpose of the visit to the establishment; and they can be downright traumatizing to people who are suffering emotionally.

So......CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN RIGHT FUCKING NOW! Or you can just bitch to the store manager. x(

1. I was at Safeway yesterday and they were playing boy bands.
Count your blessings, it could be a lot worse.

3. Smartass.
:P

There's plenty of upbeat songs out there, but they get drowned out by the doom and gloom, angst-ridden, just-shoot-me-now arias.

TZ....I gotta admit, the idea of Metallica as I cruise through the cereal aisle sounds enticing. ;)
