21. They've been together over 55 years.
It's bad enough that they've had to wait for this during past four years. They're not getting any younger.

http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/1018467.html

anyhow, it's ridiculous any gay couple that wants to be married has had to wait.

23. Oops!
Sorry. I have that provincial SF media bias.
:D

I have friends who have been together 30 years, raised children, etc. It's really pathetic that they never had the choice to make it legal until recently.

24. s'ok. I saw this couple on the news last night and they were so happy, they said
for the first time they could actually plan a wedding and they're inviting the whole city of Davis to a party next week. How cool is that?

29. So was ours.
We flew out to San Franciso and were legally married on March 11, 2004 (literally, hours before they were halted).

The day after Thanksgiving was when we got the letter revoking our license.

As we stood waiting for our license to be processed, someone had made a poster with the following quote that really stuck with me:

"When the dust settles and the pages of history are written, it will not be the angry defenders of intolerance who have made the difference. That reward will go to those who dared to step outside the safety of their privacy in order to expose and rout the prevailing prejudices."

- John Shelby Sprong

Sounds pretty appropriate for today, as well.

it'll be a fine day in this country when gay marriage is legal in all 50 states.

2. I find irony the guy is wearing a "Love Jesus" shirt
If Jesus was alive and on this earth he'd probably be at the wedding converting some water into some top notch boxed wine.

15. They are really cool people
We were talking about them in my class the other night. I'm so glad they were finally able to get married (first no less) especially after what happened to their first marriage.

But y'know what would Jesus do? :sarcasm:

maybe the same sex couples should hire the same security for their weddings as the Rolling Stones hired for Altamont...that should send a message to the disruptors in short order

26. The hell's Angerls were paid $500 in beer at Altamont...
In today's money that's about three grand...

$3000 in beer? Sign me up, and I could probably get a few of my strong and stout college buddies to help out.

So long as it's good imported or domestic microbrew beer. No Buttwiper or Miller products, throw in season 2, 2.5 and 3 of Battlestar Galactica on DVD, and I'd be happy to do security!

28. yeah, and that was for enough to cover a whole concert
all you'd need would be a couple big muthas, hell, a few cases should do

On a serious note, I hope something can be done for those getting married. Something similar to the laws that some states passed to keep Phelps and co. at bay at the funerals. These weddings are private events, just like any other wedding.

27. That guy just missed out on "Douchebag of the Month"
at American Zombie:

http://theamericanzombie.blogspot.com/2008/06/douchebag-of-month.html

America is about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness....that means whatever the hell you want to do, you have a protected constitutional right to do it....as long as it doesn't interfere with another American's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You may not like what other people do, but tough shit....as an American you are obliged to respect their right to live their lives they way they want.

If these guys want to live in a religio-political society which dictates sexuality and sexual preference, they should spend some time in Saudi Arabia or Iran.

He narrowly lost out to yesterday's contender:
