Woohoo. I'm Going To Colorado This Weekend! Someone Help!?!?!!?!

My band's playing this annual festival. We did it last year, too. So I'm super excited because it's going to be a weekend filled with booze, women, and music (oddly enough, I love all three).

Here's my problem: I've never flown with a trombone before. The instrument in its case is about the size of a guitar in a medium sized case. If anyone has any experience at all with carrying musical instruments on to an airplane, please share. Thanks.

1. call the specific airline you are flying...
and find out their requirements.
every airline is different.
some may consider it one of your allowed carry-ons.

get to the plane early so as to make sure you get "dibs" on cargo bin space.

security will probably want to look through the case, so make sure to get there ahead of time for the security screen.
