The Firefox 3 party thread! (With celebration of a M$ troll whacking!)
Edited on Tue Jun-17-08 05:01 PM by Commie Pinko Dirtbag
Imagine no IE
It isn't hard to do...

Haters of Free Software and M$ shills are NOT welcome. ESPECIALLY those who have no fixed residence.

4. I love Firefox 3!!!
I downloaded it today when I got home from my moms's wedding and I downloaded it. It was awesome! I immediately fell in love with the new features, like the little "These are sites you've been to before but probably forgot the address for" thing. The only thing I didn't like was that it moved my Stumbleupon bar up, so when I tried to move it down, the entire program crashed and I completely had to reboot. But I quite like it, and am so thankful to Mozilla!

5. So far so good!

I'm liking the customization - I'd never bothered doing browser tweaks on previous versions.

Oh yeah, if it tells you that there isn't a Google toolbar available after you install FF3, go to the Google page and install it yourself. I don't know why it doesn't do it automatically, but the Google toolbar does work with FF3.

7. What's your favorite extensions?
FF 3 is really FAST.

BTW, my favorite extention is Flashblock. Have to go see if it's available for FF3 yet.

11. I use AdBlock+, NoScript, and ShowIP.
ShowIP is great, because it comes with a bunch of tools that let you look at what OSes and server software websites are running. Very handy for us geeks.

8. Noticed the extra speed plus I had a problem with my mouse pointer hanging

up and disappearing resulting in a browsers crash.

That seems to have been cured with the new download.

10. Hey, I'm so Open Source and FLOSS...
...I don't use Firefox, because its logo is proprietary! How hardcore is that?!?! I use Iceweasel on Debian!!!! Vive la Revolucion! Hasta Siempre!

OK, so Iceweasel is basically Firefox without the little fox logo, but hey, the revolution's gotta start somewhere.

12. I'm not crazy about the gigantic drop-down in the address bar
but there's probably (I hope...) a way to get around that.

16. Holy Schnockers! It is DAMN fast.
I didn't notice a big jump in speed with the beta with my laptop, but that thing kinda chugs anyway.

It is just ripping it up on my desktop PC.

That's more than enough reason to use it.

17. I'm using it right now on my PowerMac G5
I've only found one site that I use, and only a small portion of that site, that has any problems with FF3.

Bravo to all of the Mozilla developers, testers, and guinea pigs that have made this release smooth and relatively painless for me.

19. What's the start-up speed like?
That's the one thing I find annoying about Firefox 2 - waiting about 20 seconds while my drive chunters away before Firefox will give me so much as a blank screen (which is what my home page is).

21. About 12 secs on a 2GHz P4
before the first page renders (I have eleven tabs at startup) and everything is completed within 20 seconds. Not sure how long it took with FF2 but it certainly feels faster.

20. Request Mac help with Firefox 3.0!
OS-X 10.3.9

Installed version 3.0 of Firefox, and now NOTHING happens. Click Firefox icon, it bounces once, and then just sits there doing nothing else (thank God for Camino, or I'd be totally hosed right now). Any suggestions?

22. Stick with Camino
FF3 may not support 10.3 anymore and I bet newer versions of Camino wont for too long either.
