Oops, the kitten is in heat |
|
Four and a half months old. Who knew. She's driving us nuts and we had serenades going on outside our house all night. I made an appointment for her spay but that's not until next Wednesday. Are we going to have to put up her her yowling and tomcat serenading for a WEEK?

4. Didn't need to hear that |

She made a desperate break for it this morning as I was leaving for work and I had to take half an hour out to round her up and stuff her back in the house. Fortunately the tom wasn't around--probably tired from having spent the night yowling under our windows.

6. I've never had a cat in heat. Don't know how many days it will last. |

2. That sounds about right for a young animal. |

I was going to get my found pup Lucy spayed right away but they wouldn't do it until she was at least four months old. I was eager to have it taken care of because as much as I LOVE puppies I can't care for more than the six dogs I have now.
Yes, you will enjoy this next week!

I've heard varying levels of success from using techniques like those described here: http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=737861But I would never be able to bring myself to use them.

5. Watch her like a hawk! |

My Grrlie cat went into heat while I was waiting for her vet appointment. I thought I had secured the house well -- windows closed, careful when opening/closing the front door, and locked the cat door to the backyard. That little wench was so horny/determined she literally pried open the locked cat door and made an escape for a midnight hook-up!

and now that it's happened once, it may continue monthly even after she's fixed unless you have everything removed. That's what happened to mine and I had to live with it for 12 years :(
