1. Sebastian Bach

I know, Skid Row were 3rd generation hair metal, but Bach's vocals could peel paint off the wall.

5. I almost went for Tate...
The first time I heard "Take Hold of the Flame" I was struck by the realization that a rock singer could have an operatic range and still be a bad ass.

14. I voted Tate, but the ryche isn't quite the same without DeGarmo
Their last 3 cds or so have not been all that great. It is very difficult to follow up on classics like "Operation: Mindcrime", "The Warning" and "A Rage to Order".

8. lemmy would be my vote
even if he never sand a ballad...

Previously, it would have been James Hatfield, until he got in bed with RIAA.

15. You didn't say 'living', so....the late David Byron
I really liked Uriah Heep when I was younger..Mick Box and Ken Hensley were not particularly inspiring soloists, but they had good vocals and (with Gary Thain on bass and Lee Kerslake on drums) an absolutely kick-ass-take-no-prisoners rhythm section.

Brought out and played the UH Live CD the other week...MyGawd, it's really been 30 years since that was recorded?

16. geoff tate...but halfords immortal......
halford has baked his voice, but his range in the early priest days was unmatched....listen to victim of changes and try not to get goosebumps.....

queenryches best album, at least in showcasing tate, has to be rage to order....IMHO.....

19. How About That Guy From Rainbow?
Graham something. I can't remember his last name. He was the guy after Coverdale left the band. When Coverdale was in the band, by the way, he was superfluous anyway, because the bass player, Glenn Hughes, was every bit as good as Coverdale. Better range, too!

21. King Diamond
The singer from Mercyful Fate, who also has a considerable body of solo work. He is operatic, with an incredible range.

From the list, Bruce Dickinson. He is majestic.
