Hank Steinbrenner needs to go fuck himself
with the splintered end of a broken Louisville Slugger.

• Rant On, Hank. Rant On. The word on Chien-Ming Wang isn't good; the Yankees' pitcher is going to be out until at least September after suffering a sprained foot while running the bases on Sunday. Hank Steinbrenner's reaction? He of course blamed the National League. "My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st century,” Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. “They need to grow up and join the 21st century. Am I (mad) about it? Yes. I’ve got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He’s going to be out. I don’t like that, and it’s about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s.”

2. Bigger.
If that were possible to conceive. George was never a sore winner the way Hank is. He's the energizer bunny of complaining assholes.

4. Not only an asshole...
he sounds like a fucking dumb-fuck too! This plus rushing Joba into the starting rotation mid-season really proves that he knows nothing about baseball. I hope to Jeebus that Kyle Farnsworth blows about 20 8th inning leads for the Yankees

Were they equally irrelevant?

7. designated runner?
Is there such a thing in baseball? If so does it cancel out the pitcher from playing the rest of the innings?

10. Never has been officially
Charlie Finley experimented with one in '74 and '75, when he owned the Vowels. Signed this dude named Herb Washington, a sprinter out of Michigan State, and used him exclusively as a pinch-runner. In '74 he got into 92 games and stole 29 bases, but he was thrown out stealing 16 times.

The real beauty was in the '74 Series against the Dodgers. Washington went in to run for Joe Rudi, and Mike Marshall, a reliever with a wicked pick-off move (he won the Cy Young Award that year), picked him off first. :D

Dude had him some speed, but that doesn't necessarily translate into running the bases.

9. That asshole could always let his prized pitcher stand in the box....
and let the pitches blow by.

Zambrano likes to hit, he needs to tell that asshole to fuck off.

12. Batting and running bases are part of baseball.
Those who would prefer to avoid any possibility of injury due to running should stick to sedentary events such as Monopoly or D&D.

14. At least one guy seems to agree with you
Note to Hank: if your pitcher hurt his foot running a whole 90 feet, he probably could have hurt his foot jogging in the outfield before the game. Or peeling an orange. Or doing some light reading.
