Does anyone else sprinkle salt on their watermelon? |
|
I do, and it is fucking delicious. No one else I know does it though.
Anyone else do this?

1. Mrs. V. does, and so did my mother. |
|
I think it ruins the taste of the watermelon, but to each his own.

3. Yes, at least one other person than you does so. Me. |
|
I love it!
The salt brings out the sweetness.

9. My mom did... and I have... but I don't normally. |
|
I eat even the lightest pink part on the rind though... my mom said it'd give me a stomachache... but I don't think it ever has.

But am watching sodium intake, so it's not common, but I love it.
I learned it from my dad, who also salted and peppered cantaloupe. Haven't tried that. Yet.

Then I found that I love the taste of watermelon just as it is. Also need to watch my sodium. But you're right it is delicious.
The weirdest I've seen in this area has been since I moved down here to OK. I used to work with a woman who would put salt and pepper on her fresh oranges. Bleh!

20. Both of my parents did. |
|
My Dad was the worst; he salted watermelon, salted apples, and salted AND peppered cantaloupe. :puke:
I don't like melon, so it's never been an issue for me. However, a good piece of sharp white cheddar on apple pie....mmmmm. :9
