Calling all hippies: Phish and Neil doing "Down By The River"
Edited on Wed Jun-18-08 06:59 PM by darkstar
20 minutes worth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YK_XPZ_Xhg&feature=related

And I shouldn't just be calling out hippies. This gets kinda Sonic Youth, too.

This is my best youtube discovery in ages. I feel funny. For real. Dig it.

1. You killed me with the "20 minutes worth" part.
I am so tired of meandering noodling by decent musicians. I love succinct "Pixies" music these days.

Don't get me wrong, I have sat, entranced (and tripping balls), during an entire 31 minute 'Black Peter', I just don't have the peace and patience I used to.

3. Well maybe just dip into this a time or two then
That's the thing about jams, I guess. Sometimes you have to wonder around a bit before you stumble across something magic. And sometimes that magic is so fleeting. So to be clear, 20 minutes of this does not make it good. But it does allow for some far out moments.

4. Wow, two replies and no takers?
You still may want to sample this. Just one simple opinion, of course. I think it's got a moment or two.

5. This is PURE SICKNESS!
Incredible from Farm Aid. Trey and Neil jam the shit out of this...

Of course Phish and Neil are among my all time favorite bands/musicians. And trey and Neil are both GUITAR GODS.

Here is something good too FREEBIRD! with Wynonna Judd, Sam Bush, the mcCourey's and Rickey Skaggs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32jEcI6n-Rc

Sick indeed.

Thanks for your link, too. At the big finish right now. Nice.

9. I love Phish and am anxiously awaiting the reunion...if,when,,,,
they do come back. There are many many keys to the "braphecy" about that right now, with hints getting dropped in Rolling Stone and other publications with all the members and crew.

It would be so nice to do a tour and get the fuck away from everything. Before when things went to shit in my life I could hop on tour, sell some stuff, and be having a blast. But now no band has that big and wealthy a following to make that work at only the survival level. Phish could do that.

And my dad is pain in the ass. It is so horrible I cannot even describe the emotional thing that is going on. It is like five minutes with him and it is three days curled up in a ball on the floor for me.

Thanks for asking.

10. You gotta watch this.....
Ann Marie Calhoun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHSnE8raC0U Dos the Phish song "Stash" on violin. Really great. She has been a sideman for tons of people, played with Wiespread panic and many others. it is beautiful.

Edited on Wed Jun-18-08 10:19 PM by Amerigo Vespucci

Never "got" Phish.

Neil, I get.

we seem to have the same taste in music. Maybe it is the mind space or somethng but Phish fucking kills it. Trey is an incredible guitar player. Maybe try to get the Phil Lesh and Friends with Page adn trey from Phish.

Pure sickness. http://www.archive.org/details/1999-04-15.paf.sbd.miller.25295.sbeok.flacf

This has always been favorite. I used to have to drive an hour to work at night back in the 70's. I bet I listened to this a thousand times. Great driving music.

edit 5 minutes later: around the 14 min mark I could live without the incomprehensible free form stuff. Otherwise excellent!
