What is your favourite comic strip(s)?
I'd have to say mine are 'Get Fuzzy', 'Boondocks', 'For Better or Worse', 'Doonsebury' and 'Non-Sequitor'

Any others I should check out?

You must see it. It's my fave. It's pretty apolitical, but very sweet and makes me smile every day.

...reminiscent of Krazy Kat.

Very funny for dog and cat owners... :)

49. Patrick McConnell wrote a book about Krazy Kat
If you're a fan of Krazy, that book is a must-have. He did a wonderful job.

4. You know what comic really pisses me off? Peanuts!
Charles Schultz's dying wish was that Peanuts would die with him. He didn't want it to keep going after his death like so many other comics.

And they told him sure, no problem.

And then just a couple of weeks after he died that damn comic popped up again.

Fucking assholes.

19. Did Schultz mean cancel the comic completely, or just don't let
another artist take it over?

I'm pretty sure the Peanuts strips being run now are just reruns.

20. Cancel completely.
He was writing and drawing all the comics right up until the end. He didn't want anybody else taking over.

I'm 99% positive the ones now aren't reruns. I think I've seen current events references.

29. they are old
Check the copyright dates in the margins. The Sunday vesions currently running are from 1970, and the dailies have been from the late 80's. I have matched them in old collections, which are available in hardbound books.

His wish was for no one new to do the strip, and that has been honored. No agreement was ever made about reruns.

He saw what happened to Pogo a decade or so after Walt Kelly died. That was one weak-assed resurrection attempt.

33. Peanuts strips running right now are from 1970.
It's uncanny how many of them I remember from the paperback compilations I used to collect when I was a kid.

United Media, the owners of the copyright to the characters, have forged ahead with an animated TV special or two, which left Schulz's family a little chagrined. But no one but Schulz, during his lifetime or since, ever laid a hand on his newspaper strip - writing, penciling, inking, it was a one-man show.

38. it's a 'classic' version of the strip
he ok'd that. he didn't want it to go through a series of uninspired creators, like the syndicates tend to pass strips off to. (Nancy, Hagar the Horrible, Prince Valiant, etc) it has been protected from that

charles schulz was god, btw

Everybody knows Calvin.

Frumpy was a strip done by former Real Worlder and current writer for Green Lantern and Barry Ween Boy Genuis, Judd Winick.

Just a sample of FTC:

I kind of gave up reading the comic pages after Calvin & Hobbes retired in 1995.

But I still love Doonesbury. Dilbert has had its moments. And the Far Side was also brilliant.

Never heard of 'Get Fuzzy', but I'll have to check it out. :-)

Really funny Sci-Fi based strip.

Right now Sam (the main character) tried making a "soup sandwich" while in zero-g.

One of ship thrusters fires, and the soup gets all over Sam. :D
