4. You're using a circular needle?
I've never tried socks...I keep saying I'm going to, but all the patterns I've seen have used DPN and I've only used them a couple of times and they were a pain in the ass, so I'm a'skeered of socks. I wanna make a pair with a Cubs logo on 'em, though.

You gonna post the finished product? Maybe you can be my motivation.

I need some.

:D

5. I'm doing a sock on 2 24" circs!
Google "sock on two circular needles"

Or better yet, go to Knitty.com, go to The CoffeeShop (the forums), and register!! It's an f'n wealth of info and inspiration. Series! :bounce:

Right now, I'm using Cat Bordhi's book, "Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles: A manual of elegant knitting techniques and patterns"

DPNs are too stressful for me, at the moment. I've used them on hats and stuff, but the sock thing was giving me a headache. So, I got Cat's book, watched video tutorials from the Knitty boards, and I'm flying now!

:)

6. They don't get tangled up?
I made a couple of hats on the DPNs over the winter -- drove me to distraction, especially when it came to switching from the larger to the smaller needles.

So I switched entirely and, except for a couple more sweaters, I've been playing with 0000 needles.

8. I'm using the 24" Susan Bates Silvalume Circs..
I'd rather have Bamboo Addi Turbos, or the regular Addis, but my LYS doesn't have them. I'm going home on Monday and will pick up two 24" ones then. regardless, the Bates pretty much hang down and I don't notice them, even though the cord is plastic. The join is pretty smooth, not annoying.

And with the Circs, I get fewer ladders, as there are only 2 joins. Just easier than DPNs for me, at the moment. I'm sure I'll do socks on DPNs at some point, but for now I want to get the basic construction down. Life of a self-taught knitter. :P

12. I'm stuck with Susan Bates half the time...
'cause I'm afraid to get good needles (I'll come home from work and find them everywhere -- the kids get into 'em and...well...I've got missing needles, bent needles, chipped needles). I hate 'em, though. I did a jacket last summer -- really pretty, light-colored yarn and the needles turned the project grayish before I was finished with it. It washed out okay...mostly...but I can still tell in the cuffs, the pockets, and the edging where I used smaller needles.

The little ones I'm using now are better, though...and the kids leave them alone.

13. You need Addis...And protect them...get a safe
:P

They're expensive, relatively speaking, but the best needles I've ever used. I have several. Fine German engineering :D

I also like the Clover bamboo DPNs. :)
