PSI:My girlfriend got a THIRD DEGREE SUNBURN on Wed.
I am not sure if she used oil instead of sunscreen or what, but her chest is blistered and she called me at 3AM this morning crying in pain; on the way to the hospital.
Doctor said he couldn't figure out why it was only in one place (upper cleavage/lower chest area) and not all over. But anyway:
BE CAREFUL.
PUT ON SOME G*&%$DAMN SPF (with UVA protection also, preferrably!)

Love y'all lots...serisly.

2. I was once seriously burned because of bug spray.
I was out sunning and put some "Deet" on to keep the bugs away. That night, I was in the ER. I don't know why people aren't warned about that.

10. Use catnip instead
Catnip spray bought in a pet supply store is said to be a better insect repellent than 'DEET.' Besides, it has the welcome or annoying side effect, depending on your attitude towards felines, of attracting cats.

3. That happened to my sister when we were kids.
Same spot, too. I can't even imagine how painful it is. I'm such a baby even with a normal sunburn.

In a couple of weeks she can look back and laugh!

Last year I took a walk down a Florida beach (trying to get away from my in-laws :puke:) I didn't wear any sunscreen and my shoulders and back got burned. It didn't really effect me until I got back to VA the next day and by then I was throwing up :puke:

(I couldn't remember how to puke! :puke:)

5. It could have been only in that one
area because she had previously put perfume or perfumed lotion or something there. Sometimes that can cause a terrible sun reaction. My sympathies to her. That is so painful.

6. That happened to me once. I was at a beach and it was windy & cold so we didn't put on much
sunscreen. By night I was the deepest read all over. By the next day blisters. Then I visited my grandmother and aunt at a swanky resort as skin was falling off my face in sheets. I could tell how disgusting I looked just by staring into the faces of others.

12. yep, that's the worst
you just don't feel the sun and don't think you need sunscreen. I burned the hell out of the tops of my feet once like on a windy, cloudy day at the beach. I wore a long-sleeved shirt and a hat and was otherwise well protected, but I was barefoot.

13. I still have freckles in the shape of that bathing suit on my sholders.
I'm a candidate for cancer in the years to come. They say it only takes one bad burn in your youth and you are vulnerable. Take care of you.

7. Draw a tub full of room temperature water.
Dump a box of tea bags in the water.

Let her soak in that for a while.

8. My girlfriend fell asleep while sunbathing in Florida on Spring Break.
She went down a couple of days before me and was staying with a friend.

When I got there, she looked like a lobster! She was in so much pain...

11. Third degree?
So you can see her muscle and bone where the skin is missing? She's got second degree burns at best, but I know how much those hurt. She'll get better.

*I* don't actually know what that would look like, so I'll take your word for it.
Maybe doc was just trying to scare her.
