I need DU help: How do I handle this situation with my stepdaughter? |
|
She's laughing at my wife and I because we are on two different floors of the house talking to each other through the DU Lounge. How should I handle the lack of respect? (Note: she's taller and stronger than me, so I'd prefer not to make her angry. :scared:)

1. Post embarrassing pics of her from her very early youth. |
|
You know, covered in pudding, etc. Call it a "tribute" so she can't be angry.

3. Make her pay for an intercom system. |
|
The need to communicate through DU will be gone, she won't laugh, and you'll have a new toy to play with.

my teenagers would MUCH rather my husband and I communicate EXCLUSIVELY via computer chat.
They get GROSSED OUT over even rakish LOOKS...

6. Let's talk about her here on DU |
|
Or post some pictures of her, particular ones she doesn't like. Maybe someone here can photoshop them and "improve" them.

7. Wait until she's got some fine young man over to visit her, |
|
then buddy up to the lad and offer to show him her 'booger wall.'**
**No actual booger wall required to be an effective deterrent.

9. Dude, I've talked to roommates from different rooms via MSN, but that is just sad. |
|
Accept the laughter as legitimate critique.

12. Use the same medium to |
|
recollect a....colorful....incident from her past. Things like her favorite blankie...her favorite sippy-cup....her potty-training issues.
Either that or brazenly flirt with each other -- any parental PDA is enough to send a teen screaming from the immediate vicinity, whether visual or textual.
