As expected, the US adaptation of "Life on Mars" is an absolute ratfuck of a disaster

You don't really care about the main character, and there was no reason to have him all buffed up.

Gene Hunt has been neutered, and makes the character completely unnecessary.

The mystery of the first one isn't conveyed at all.

Most of the lines were ripped directly from the original show.

Verdict: Fuck you, ABC.

The only one worth watching, rent it, if you can

The shitass bastard shit codswallop doucheburger version that needs locking in the attic to be never spoken of again:

1. I heard the US one was already scrapped.
I believe they are taking it back to formula, as they say.

2. They were advertising the hell out of it during the basketball playoffs
I found a pre-air version online. It all needs to be flushed. And they need to find new people for the two main leads.

9. Yeah, that pre-air was scrapped.
I don't remember all the changes that they said were going to be made, but the big one was that the setting was going to switch from LA to New York.

I believe the main lead is staying, but other cast changes were probable.

I didn't even watch that pre-air because I heard it was so shitty.

10. I wouldn't bill it as sci-fi myself.
More like police procedural meets psycho-mindfuck drama.

15. It's fantastic
Some of the best uses of popular music I've seen in a series in a while.

I can't wait to start the second series.

16. It's sad to say
that I had to go back and watch the UK version again, just so my life would make sense again.

That's how bad the US version is.

17. In fact
There's no way it could work here, in the US. The asshole 'copper' routine would ignite too many racial battles.

I don't think the Brit version of Life on Mars could work here, and the US can't work at all.

18. One of the lines that would never survive the US version
"Was he boffin' yer mother up the arse and eating creme-ons while he was at it?"

Gene Hunt

Believe in the Gene Genie!
