I'm stuck on lazy...Help! My house is a disaster! |
|
:o
Since I slept until 12:30, I haven't been able to motivate off the couch, and it's 4:23! x(
My house looks like a bomb went off, there's not much in the way of food in the house, and we need to do laundry. Seriously, I wouldn't even have a good friend over, it's such a disaster in here.
Help! :bounce:

1. Wish I could help ya, babykins, but |
|
I'm pretty much in the same boat. x(
Fortunately, I have this coming week off between jobs, so I have time to get the motor runnin' and take care of the house.

the mess is partially what's keeping me on the couch! I can't deal. Laziness/Unclean house death spiral, it is. :o

6. Pshaw. We have dirty clothes and crumbs all over our living room. Also food wrappers because |
|
the kids don't seem to know where the trash can or laundry hamper is. (To be fair, my "office" space in the living room is a wreck, as is my own bedroom. This trailer doesn't have closets any more and there is just too much stuff and not enough house.)

19. What's this 'cleaning' thing people are talking about? |

Sounds vaguely dangerous.
I shall refrain from doing so in the interests of personal safety.

I clean it up, but it gets messy again.
I missed the tidy gene.

Hide the mess. I have tons of laundry to do, and I stuff it all into the walk-in closet.
I have dishes to do, but I stuffed the dishwasher full and am too lazy to empty it.

26. My place is/was really bad |
|
all day - So what did I do? Jump up and make it look wonderful? Heck no...I watched a movie and put the house on ignore. I couldn't find my coffee table either. My dining room is still horrible due to my 7 year old daughter doing some harebrained project in there - I finally got myself up to clean the main mess area but that dining room thing is killin' me.
I know I have to clean it all up or I will really hate me. Oh -- when I went to clean up the mess on the coffee table a partially spilled diet coke, courtesy of my 8 year old son, had left some nifty stains on the oak.... I would have noticed the spill except it was covered is other stuff. So, you are just like the rest of us lazy slobs. Oh well.
BTW, my husband is very neat. I can not blame one iota of this on him. He is organized too. I am his polar opposite. :D
p.s. I need to go to the grocery store too but hey, that is a walk to the car and drive 5 blocks away. Too much torture.

Edited on Mon Jun-23-08 08:28 PM by carlyhippy
when I get in the mood not to clean and the house falls apart, it's step one back to normal. after a week or so it will all be good. Oh, and don't forget to turn on the stereo and play full blast, it seems to help me get going.

29. Try the 15 minute trick...start with one area/room and set a timer for 15 minutes. |
|
When that's done you are finished, unless you decide to keep going. I like this technique for 2 reasons...first, it makes me do a lot in a short amount of time and I work best under pressure...and usually just getting the momentum going will help me do a little more than the 15 minutes. But even if you only do the minimum you usually feel better. I totally relate to this syndrome...I'm scattered, messy and disorganized by nature and yet LOVE a sense of order. I just am no good at creating or maintaining it.

31. You need a 5-year old. My daughter takes after my MIL - LOVES to clean. |
|
Just give her a pail of water and a sponge and she's busy for hours. You have to be careful when she mops but other than that it's priceless.
