UPDATE
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x7858958

So I go to the PO to see if my check is there today. It is not. I took Mr Gray with me to prevent mayhem and/or the topic line of previous thread coming out of my mouth. I ask for the Postmaster....why are they referred to as Master's?...The Postmaster is the one who originally took our application for the PO box.

I explain my situation in a very strained voice as I wanted to leap across his desk and choke him. Told him I had already come into his PO 10 days ago informing them that another check had been returned to sender undeliverable and to keep an eye out for future mail. They said fine, that should not have happened, we'll take care of it, so sorry blah blah blah.

Today I find out the check, which was received on Thursday of last week, was again RETURNED TO SENDER- UNDELIVERABLE! Apparently, no one added my name to the box. More apologies....more blah blah blah. I leave the post office without ripping off heads. Mr Gray tells me to go to a meeting. I'm thinking people who work in post offices are prone to going postal because they are incapable of doing simple things like putting customers names on their PO Box therefore riling up the customer to the point of wanting to dismember them.

I call my ex-employer to inform him of the situation. He says, "guess what I have?" My check. It came back to them today. He is having one of their drivers deliver it to me tomorrow.

OK, so I am a control freak. When things don't go my way, I lose it. Yes, I need therapy. Yes, I am spoiled. Yes, this is why I take Nexium and flip out because I take Nexium.

Later I will tell you all about the trolley full of drunks I drove around Friday night up in the boondocks of NH narrowly missing the opportunity to get pulled over for an illegal amount of passengers while they all chanted Obama Obama at the top of their lungs.

I now need a nap as I was just informed that I am a cranky bastard.

6. OK....I'll explain...again
First company took three weeks to send me a direct deposit form (their office is 2 hours away from me). By the time I got it, I had decided to leave that position for a higher paying one.

second job lost my direct deposit forms TWICE. I just filled out another one.

15. It's not whining.
It's 'venting'.

It's only whining if it gets to be like the chorus to a song. :P

12. But I'll bet they got...
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 02:51 PM by Kutjara
...all the junk mail and stuff addressed to people who once rented the box for a day in 1965 nicely tucked in there.

Whenever I'm away from home for more than a couple of days, I find my mailbox rammed with unsolicited crap and mail for enough different people to start a small country. There's also usually a card stuffed in with "box full, mail returned to post office" written on it. Yeah, that'd be the stuff actually addressed to me. If I'm stupid enough to go to my local post office, they'll disappear into the back for twenty minutes (presumably to have a coffee), and then bring me another armload of junk mail, but nothing specifically addressed to me.

The final kicker is, two weeks later, the bundle of mail I should have received during the time I was away will suddenly appear in my box "as if by magic." That's when I usually find out I've got overdue bills.

So yes, I share your loathing of the post office.

17. Ha! They looked for my check for 20 minutes KNOWING it got sent back
One person who works there worked for 5 years as a temp before they hired her. Why? Why do people want to work at the PO that bad? Benefits? Sure, you need them because eventually you go insane.
