Where did the phrase "wouldn't throw him/her out of bed for eating crackers" come from? |
|
Was there an uncontrollable cracker eating problem at some time that i missed?

2. Eating crackers in bed causes crumbs in the sheets. |
|
Crumbs in the sheets are very uncomfortable - a real irritant.
A person's got to be pretty special if you wouldn't kick him out for eating crackers!

There is probably a fetishist subculture that loves the feeling of cracker crumbs all over their naked bodies.

Edited to add that this is funny, because I am eating a few Ritz right now.

5. it was invented on political websites on the intertubes... |
|
... back when people, apparently, used to sleep with their beds next to busy bus routes.

8. The other day someone on here credited it to the "Cliff" character from "Cheers" |
|
It may have been around long before that show, though, for all I know...

I remember it from my teenage years though I don't know where it originated.

13. That one is really old... |
|
I remember that one from the 60's. It was usually said when people were talking about how "hot" somebody was. In other words, "Well, I wouldn't throw her out of bed". Yeah, it was disgusting.
