Best location to download Ubuntu from?
When I get to the download section of Ubuntu's webpage it asks me where I want to download it from and gives me like 20-30 different American locations to choose from. Is there a "best" location or are they all generally the same? I'm located on Long Island (NY) if location makes a difference.

Also, I’ve only heard great things about Ubuntu. Does it live up to the hype?

1. I've never used Ubuntu but I don't think there would be a huge difference between the servers

3. unfortunately, there can be.
They all have the same files, but they might not all have the same hardware, or bandwidth. Some of them you can download the entire ISO within a half hour. Others take all day.

Unfortunately, it's hard to know which is which unless you have downloaded from them before.

4. I know that but in my experience, the download speeds are usually comparable on most of the servers.

2. Look for the location that is geographically the closest to you...
granted, it doesn't make that much of a difference, but general area(the Northeast) would be good enough. I know they give a lot of choices, but some people want it NOW, and its like 700 megabytes, and being such a large file, it taxes servers pretty hard when popular, that's why there are so many mirrors for it.
