Great mini DU meetup in Detroit last night!

MrsGrumpy, WannaBeGrumpy, Daydreamin' Hippie, LisaM, former DUer Progmom, and I all met and went to the Detroit Tigers - St. Louis Cardinals game last night, along with BoyGrumpy and Progspawn. Despite the Tigers' losing we had a blast; got 1968 throwback jerseys, most everyone rode the tiger carousel and the giant baseball Ferris Wheel, we saw 17 members of the 1968 World Series winning Tigers and just generally had a great time. LisaM heads back to Seattle tonight with wonderful memories of her first trip to Comerica Park. Thanks, MrsG!

8. I went to the fan foto site (they took a picture of us all) and there is

no way I will post that picture here. It's utterly a yick picture of me. Although 1goblue positioned herself so as not to be caught on camera.

I know DayDreamin took some pictures but I will kill him if he posts any of me. It wasn't my best day and, apparently, orange is not my color. :)

4. I had a really nice time.

It was good, as always, to see you 1goblue...and I am really happy it was the throwback night. The funny thing is, walking back to the car, we were next to a group of Cards fans in the crosswalk. I said,"That's right you stay right there out of our crosswalk..." and he laughed. We were joking around and I told him that I had double the reason to be upset with him. Growing up a Brewers fan, the Brewers one and only appearance in the WS was against the Cards and they were slaughtering them until the Cards came back and took 4. He said,"Man you people never forget a thing..."

Thanks for coming out. The kids had a blast. Tell LisaM I hope she has safe travels and returns again soon.

I got back to Seattle fine, but LATE - thanks to Chimpy. First, he arrived in town for some fundraiser right about the time I wanted to get to the airport. We got there just as they closed off Eureka Road. So we turned around and got positioned in traffic heading back. We sat there for 20 minutes, then they let traffic back in.

This meant that I had absolutely no wait to check in or for security, because the lines had been cleared during the wait. Good, right? But then the flight was delayed, the gate was moved, and the connecting flight was quite late. We had to wait for that, and then as we were preparing to depart, Chimp chose to leave! Oh well. The pilot apologized for the delay multiple times and kept explaining how it was all because of Bush.

The game was a blast, and the company was the BEST.
