Anyone into Beatles bootlegs? I've had a few over the years, the Black Album, 2 or 3 of the Unsurpassed Masters set, the White Album demos...any favorites? I'm thinking of going into a Beatles phase, but oddly enough I prefer to listen to the unauthorized versions of the songs...Commonwealth, for example, is one of my favorite songs for some reason!
ETA: I'm particularly intrested in the Pepper sessions, along with Revolver. I'm mainly a 'mid-period' fan.

1. Wow. That's a pretty big endeavor. |
|
I'd suggest starting at www.bootlegzone.com. Probably one of the most comprehensive collections of information about Beatles bootlegs.
If you're interested in the Pepper sessions, you should try to acquire the multitrack files that have made the rounds of the internet recently. They're the 4-track recordings (each track is a separate WAV file) for "Sgt. Pepper," "With A Little Help," "She's Leaving Home" and "Day In The Life."

2. I have mono "White Album," incl. outtakes, etc... |
|
...and it's pretty sweet. Also mono versions (plus outtakes and bonus tracks) of Yellow Submarine ("Mellow Yellow") and Rubber Soul ("Rabbi Saul"). They're all from some German label. Good stuff. I got 'em from an idie record store in NYC a few years back.
