A few questions for "Weeds Fans".... (possibly spoilers for those behind)
I really love this show.... finally after "Six Feet Under" and "Huff", a show that I make it a point to watch. However, I've missed quite a few episodes from previous seasons. So here are my questions:

What happend to Nancy's husband? Was he ever part of the show?

How did Nancy become a dealer?

Weren't Nancy and Cecilia once best friends and if so, what happened that got them so pissed (such an understatement) at each other?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!! ( I can't go back and watch from the beginning because I'm working too many hours).

1. here's what I know - may be spoilers for someone -
(It's also one program I make a point to watch, tho I don't have showtime so I have to find it other ways.)

I don't know what you've seen, but if I did, I could tell you some key episodes to watch, maybe.

What happened to Nancy's husband? Was he ever part of the show?

Nancy's husband dropped dead when he was out jogging with Shane... which was a cause of some of Shane's earlier freaked-out moments (he made videos in which he was dressed as a masked terrorist who chopped off a doll's head, for one.) Her husband has been part of the show as memories. Shane had a videotape he was watching early on. Nancy dreamed about him. At the end of the last season, Shane thought he was seeing and talking to his dad when his world was going to hell b/c of his mom's work.

How did Nancy become a dealer?

The first show started with Nancy dealing. Later we learn that when Andy was visiting at some point, he intro'd Conrad and Nancy - in case she ever wanted something for her personal use. Andy did not know she was dealing when he came to stay and help her out. He found out by accident when Heyliah thought Andy was picking up Nancy's order - but he was just visiting his old friend Conrad.

At first she was just dealing to her suburban neighbors at their kids' soccer matches, boys night out poker games, that sort of thing, until she met the guy with the bodhisatva pot store.

Later, when Nancy has to get a real job b/c of the money she owned to U-Turn, we found out she had never finished college and had no marketable skills. (neither does Celia, for that matter.)

Weren't Nancy and Cecilia once best friends and if so, what happened that got them so pissed (such an understatement) at each other?

Sort of, by convenience. They lived in the same neighborhood and their kids went to the same school. Celia was prez of the PTA in the first season... no one really likes her, but she's one of those "powerful" people in a neighborhood that everyone has to deal with. Celia's daughter thinks her mom has a crush on Nancy.

Silas and Celia's older daughter were dating. Celia sent her off to a school in Mexico to punish her for having sex with Silas. (and I guess she didn't really fit into the show when they wanted to let him have a new g.f. each year.) Celia blamed Nancy for being a bad mom.

then Celia caused Nancy to get into big, deep trouble b/c Celia destroyed a huge amt. of weed that Silas had stolen. Celia found it when she had Silas arrested for stealing the cameras she set up all around the neighborhood (which Celia and Doug then watched when they had a brief affair.

then Celia really liked the guy who was the developer for the Fundie community. She saw him and Nancy make the nasty when Nancy worked for the guy - Nancy was hot for Guillermo and asked the Matthew Modine character if he spoke Spanish.

when Celia started messing with Nancy's biz, Nancy threatened her with a knife (this was the U-Turn stuff.)

then, of course, Celia got arrested and blamed for creating the grow house in the place Modine's character had given her when she was his g.f.

6. It's a good summary but you forgot Husband #2
At the end of season #1, Nancy becomes friends with Peter Scottson, who has a son about Shane's age. Shane and the Scottson boy were in a Karate tournament where I believe Shane bit the Scottson boy. A friend started off between the 2 single parents that eventually lead to sex. At the end of season #1 you see Nancy and Peter Scottson have sex and afterwards when she runs to the bathroom she puts on Peter's shirt only to see on the back of the shirt was DEA.

Nancy tried to break it off with Peter but didn't quite work, he found out she was dealing pot but said he loved her anyways so the 2 secretly married in order to prevent them from testifying against each other should Nancy get busted.

But Scottson was a bit of a corrupt DEA. When Armenians threated Nancy & Conrad's new grow house, Nancy gave Peter the tip so he would bust them all. Ultimately someone (and this is what I forget) killed Peter in a corrupt deal where Peter tried to muscle the money out of some dealers (it was either the Mexicans or U-Turn's group). Plus Peter swore that something was going on between Nancy & Conrad. So Peter ended up dead and she found out the night that the Armenians & U-Turn busted into the Grow home at the end of season #2/beginning of season #3.

A couple of episodes in, the body of Peter Scottson was finally found and a funeral happened. Nancy was a bit obsessed about the first Mrs. Scottson and they soon became friends. That was until the DEA gave Nancy the $119,000 life insurance policy that Peter had. And the first Mrs. Scottson was pissed and demanded the money.

Nancy was ok with giving it to her but at the same time some of the phony books Doug was keeping was being questioned by the Majestic Town Council (the cities were suppose to be merging) and Nancy gave him the $100k he needed to keep him in the clear and promising the first Mrs. Scottson she'd get her money eventually. The first Mrs. Scottson was pissed, put a private investigator on Nancy but the PI was discovered by Shane, who setup the Botwin's new home security system & cameras. By then the PI knew Nancy was a drug dealer but hadn't told the first Mrs. Scottson about it yet and tried to shake $50k out of nancy. Nancy gave the PI the money but not without first secretly taping a conversation where the PI admitted to blackmailing her. After that Nancy basically told the first Mrs. Scottson to fuck off because she (first Mrs. Scottson) should have trusted that Nancy would give her the money but since she didn't she wasn't getting any.

2. as I understand it, after her husband died,Nancy started to deal in order to maintain the lifestyle
to which her family had become accustomed.

I think that Nancy was the closest thing that Celia had to a friend, but Nancy never liked her.

You can read good recaps here if you have time to kill.

3. Awesome..you guys are great. I didn't know anything about Nancy's
husband or how she ended up dealing. I have seen all of the shows when and after Celia dumped all of that weed in Nancy's pool and the nightmare it caused Nancy. I think it was that point that it became "can't miss T.V." Thanks! :-)

4. I think that U-Turn was one of the BEST characters
and he really made her have to face that she was now a drug dealer.

You really should go to WatchTVSitcoms.com and she the last couple of episodes from the season before the pool thing... the stuff about Nancy marrying the DEA agent so he couldn't come after her. The stuff with his ex-wife wasn't that great, but the way he treated Nancy and Conrad was good stuff.

(His body was the one that washed up when the sewage lines blew.) Martin Donovan, the guy who played the agent, is a really good actor.

I love the satire - she's a total hypocrite - she couldn't give up her big house and range rover... that was just how life had to be lived.

And then it seems (more and more into the seasons) that she actually really gets off on the excitement - and she feels good b/c she's good at what she does. afaik, she's never been the cause of all the problems. it's all the people around her who make life more difficult.

I've seen the first ep of this season, but not the second yet. I want to know how Celia gets out of jail. (and please feel free to spoil the second ep for me, okay? :)

5. She's still in jail.
At the end of the episode, the officer who put her there shows her an undercover photo taken of Nancy and her new partner in crime, looking over the Mexican border together, and then he says something like "I'm starting to believe you."

7. here's your 2nd episode spoilers
#1) I think Cecilia is getting thru to her daughter, so I wouldn't be suprised if Isabelle has something to do with getting Celia out.

#2) That cop that arrested her has the hots for Celia PLUS they has a picture of Nancy and the Mexican crime boss talking on the golf course.

8. that guy's name is Guillermo
what I liked about the last two seasons is how Nancy got played by the big criminals.

I think Guillermo told the rednecks about nancy and that's why the girl hung out where Andy was and the guys drove Dave off the road.

then Guillermo, imo, set redneck's crop on fire with the purpose of also shutting down Nancy's operation... in other words, he is responsible for burning down Agrestic/Majestic to run her out of biz and to use her for his biz.

thanks for going into the whole Scottson story. Heylia told the Armenian guy who was in prison about the U-Turn deal and about Scottson, who was responsible for the Armenian guy ending up in jail. So she was the one who got rid of Scottson, indirectly.

I'm gonna miss Heylia and Conrad. I read somewhere that the creator of Weeds was thinking about creating a spin-off with the two of them in a show about a Med. MJ store (which is what Heylia said they were going to do at the end of the final ep.
