Do you feel a little "immature" for your age?
I've been feeling this way for a long time now and I'm wondering if it's just me. I'm not talking about feeling "youthful". I mean plain old immature. I always thought that, once I got old, I'd feel more growup. I'm 56 and it hasn't happened yet.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this!

1. I'm 54
and find it therapeutic to reach out for immaturity. I think there is a different view of being in one's mid-50's and feeling grownup today then when we were in high school observing the dinosaurs in our lives who were then in their mid-50's roaming the planet on the verge of extinction. Leave the grownup stuff to young folks who have yet to find themselves.

2. Well, let's see ...

I'm almost 40, and I got some Play-Doh for my birthday.

And I play with it.

So, ummm, yeah. :)

3. I got some Play-Doh for Christmas!
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 07:01 AM by zanne
A joke gift from someone who had his "worrying stone" borrowed too many times. What he doesn't know is that I love to play with that stuff. Just squishing it between my fingers releases tension.

6. When I was young, I tried to be all mature and stuff.
Then around 8th grade I realized that I wasn't having any FUN.

So ever since then I've been as immature as I wanna be.

10. I never felt growing up or acting 'mature' in some areas made any sense.
Who gets to tell me what I do for fun? What I find funny? How I get to behave.

As long as I make sure to take serious the important things in life (money, health, my relationships with my family) I feel I have a RIGHT to be as foolish as I want. Society and it's expectations be damned.

I'll be watching kids cartoons tonight, thank you.

11. Yes, it's just you, you should be ashamed...
...I used to try to be mature, but I never cared for it much, so now I just do what I feel like and don't worry about it.
The way I see it, I don't know how much time I have left to fool around, and I'd hate to waste it by being serious.

google "Laughter is good as exercise" and you'll get 15,100,000 results, among them Gupta teaching a rather contagious laughing exercise "for the heart and mind":

19. You are not alone.
I like kid stuff like Hello Kitty and Chococat (hard to find). Sometimes I skip down imagined cobble-"stoned" streets 'cause I'm feeling groovy. I see cute young guys and my daughter tells me I'm too old but then I say just because I think El Capitan is beautiful doesn't mean I want to climb it. I avoid looking in the mirror as much as possible.

24. Yep!
I'm only 22 and I know my feelings are really irrational but I just feel age creeping up on me. I'll be 23 in November and I don't feel like I've accomplished anything in my life. I don't even know what I want to do. I'm torn between pursuing my dream and just getting a steady job and making a comfortable living. I should have made that decision awhile ago but I'm entirely too indecisive. I know I have a lot of time but I kind of feel like a failure.

47. I joke around about being "21 with 21 years experience"
But that really is how i see myself. I may be physically older, but my personality is no different than it was in my late teens/early 20s.

If that's immature, then so be it... i could care less. I look at it as a feeling of immortality.

I've been 25 for almost twenty years now...

Last weekend, I yelled at a shovel from almost twenty minutes. Thank goodness I was alone and was the only to see or hear my pique, but still...

Also, about once a month, I get online on a Friday night to play an RPG with some friends I've known since high school. There is simply no possible way I can justify *that* as a mature thing to do.

You're absolutely not alone. I think everyone's there to one degree or another-- some are just better at hiding it than we are :)

55. I do every day.
I'm not married.

I have no children (other than my two four-footed, pointy-eared, long-tailed ones).

I don't have a "real" job.

I could eat mac&cheese every damn day (but I don't).

I like a bowl of ice cream before I go to bed.

I wish my local classic TV station would include The Electric Company in their line-up.

I sleep with stuffed animals (but they are only there for decoration).

I can't understand a lot of the arguments that go on in GD and GD/P.
