Sick Betta Fish - Has Anyone Had Success w/ Meds Available
I've given him two meds - one for fungal and one for ich. He's not looking too good. Does this stuff really work?

5. I used to put drops of Iodine in the water
I would separate the Betta in a separate tank.

8. He's My Only Fish
and I've become so attached - It's heartbreaking to see him looking so grayish, lifeless and thin.

9. Is he eating?
There are internal parasites that will cause weight loss..and I think fish TB will do the same although I'm not positive on that.

10. He's Looking Better
and just ate a few fresh brine - I think he's on the mend. Wondering if I should give him another dose of Quick Cure - maybe half a drop. I put him near a window - no fake light with a mirror and he's swimming around again.

Yeah!!!!

12. That's a good sign if he's eating and swimming around.
Sounds like he is improving, that's great news.

6. This Gives Me Hope
It's crazy becoming so attached to a fish. Heartbreaking to see him look so sick - he's a beauty when healthy.

2. Are you using extra stress coat?
My son uses that as well as Melafix. He's had pretty good results with extra stress coat and the Melafix. He doesn't have betta's..but we've also do the same thing when my granddaughter's goldfish gets fin rot. It has saved him twice now..he's 6 this year.

I believe my son also does a 50% water change too. We followed the same procedure for the 5 gallon tank that the goldfish is in, but it's been a while and I always have to ask him.

There is also a product called Maracyn, an antibiotic that might help.

I have an 11 ft wall of aquariums in my living room that belong to my son. One of these days he'll move them to his house. :)

I just googled Betta fish and found this page that looks like it gives excellent info on sick Betta.

Good luck!

3. A little salt (yes, in freshwater) may go a long way in helping. Here's a link:

11. I love my little fishies!
We lost about 30 during Katrina due to not having any electricty. But we started over and have 3 kissing fish and a dragon fish. They have been flourishing. Good luck!
