My mom rescued a cat
It's a THIRTY POUND mane coon. (did I spell that right?) Anyway, she cleans houses with my sister, and the owner of this house was going to have him put to sleep. He's in perfect health and only 5 yrs. old. The owners just didn't want him any more. He's SO DAMN HUGE and he's so lovable. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Oh she also rescued the other 2 cats they were also going to kill. All 3 cats are the same young age. That brings my mom's cat count to um....fourteen. Jeez!!!

1. Maine Coons
Are awesome cats and very good companions. I had one. He was very lovable and followed me everywhere. He would play fetch with a super ball and drop it back at your feet for more. They are very big cats and very smart. Your mom is very lucky.

4. Cats sound a lot like humans
Well-fed Cats Do Kill Birds: Well-fed cats kill birds and other wildlife because the hunting instinct is independent of the urge to eat. In one study, six cats were presented with a live small rat while eating their preferred food. All six cats stopped eating the food, killed the rat, and then resumed eating the food.

3. Go Mom!
I can't imagine someone putting down an animal because they didn't want them. People sure suck sometimes.
I can't wait to see the pics.

5. Your Mom's an angel
she did a really good thing by rescuing 3 young and healthy cats. Some people never cease to amaze me. I have four babies (all DSH cats) that I rescued in Guam in the early 90's and brought back with me when my husband retired from the Navy in 93. I can never understand why people give cats up because they are moving. I shlepped 5 cats over 10,000 miles to Norfolk, VA from Guam and they can't move to the next state with their cat? Incredible. I wish your Mom good luck with her new additions.

7. Maine Coons are HUGE and beautiful kitties. . .
What kind of asinine jackass puts a cat to sleep because they're moving?

That's just twisted. Hell for me that'd be like putting my kid to sleep.

8. Good for your mom!
Bless her for saving these little guys. (Well, in the case of the Maine Coon, not-so-little).

Thanks for posting -- :toast:
