Handy tip for cat lovers.
When your precious kitty-kitty is at the door, meowing to be let in, but their meow sounds kind of strange and muffled, DON'T OPEN THAT DOOR!
Kitty-kitty has a surprise for you, and it ain't a hug and a kiss.
Most likely, it's one of these:

Open the door at your own risk.

1. Poor little one- Kitty just wants appreciation for being a good hunter.
Doesn't make me affectionate either.

7. This cat once caught a flying squirrel. That's an accomplishment...
since nobody ever even SEES those around these parts.

2. Yep, mine got me with that a few weeks ago
I should have remembered. Luckily, he dropped the critter who appeared to be fine. I left the door open all night, and kept the cat in and he was gone

3. I know that noise well
Except I usually hear it when Haruka's cat is standing on the bed with his "snack." Then, he'll attack you, if you try to take it away. This still isn't as bad as awaking up and going, "What's that?," only to realize you just picked up the remains of a mostly consumed mouse.

6. She's left piles of guts for us before. Not even bothering to leave some identifiable remains.
She's generous, though, she drops the treat for us but is confused when we don't praise her for her contribution.
Today's chipmunk was still warm and its eyes were moist. It made me very sad.

4. Cats talking with their mouths full
are up to no good.

When I hear that muffled meow in the middle of the night it means somebody wants me to throw his sparkly ball to retrieve. Over and over and over and over....

11. Our cats seem to prefer moles.
They eat the whole thing, though. No leftovers. Sometimes a snake, sometimes a bird, but nowadays it's moles.

13. You're lucky. She left a pile of guts the other day. GAH!
Our kitty goes for moles, chipmunks, and red squirrels.

15. Ooooh, I remember that howl
the cats that we had growing up were indoor/outdoor cats, and a couple of them were VERY good hunters. One insisted upon bringing us his kill...a nearly daily occurrence. GROSS!

I actually have one cat now that will do that with fuzzy toys. Freakin' annoying. And I feel quite stupid going "Good job, Riley!! Way to kill the...ball..."
