Speaking of learning touch typing, here's an update on my employee:

He's a rough-hewn 58, set in his ways, and about as old school as it gets. He sent me a couple of spreadsheets and the columns did not add up. So I went down to talk to him about it and this is what I saw: He enters the numbers in the column, pulls out a calculator, adds them up, and enters the total manually. If he adds wrong, there's no way anyone would know. :eyes:

AND, if he makes an error, he backspaces each character and retypes the number, word, whatever. It's maddening.

I did tell him about the 'sum' function in Excel, however. It's a whole new world for him.

I swear, what you're going through is what my brother goes through trying to explain things to me over the phone from Palo Alto. I'm trying to set up a website; he's encouraging me as patiently as I imagine you do with your guy. I vent by whining about being a staunch luddite.

I do hunt-and-peck really, really well.

My special skills include: parallel parking after a few tries, throwing darts at balloons, baking tortes, drawing Paris scenes, and editing/editorializing.

I just brought her back from a week at the vet. She sat in her carrier as I drove and ACCUSED me. She was meowing & giving me the shit-eye.

Loosely translated: "How could you leave me there? Who do you think you are? The accomodations were sub-par. The food was atrocious, and I wouldn't have fed it to a dog. On the bright side, it took six handlers to restrain me for my medicine. So, why don't you put THAT in your pipe and smoke it, "MOM"?"
