What's the oldest software you are still using?
On my computer it's Adobe Acrobat Distiller, which says 1993 on it.

22. If so, then I've got a crapload of emulators on here too.
Original Mario FTW.

I finally beat it, 20 years after it came out! :P

Of course, I never owned a Nintendo, so I never got a chance to play it long enough to beat it until I got it on an emulator.

23. I never beat it as a kid, but when I discovered emulators a few years ago, I finished them.
I finished Super Mario World for the first time on my SNES emulator a few days ago.

24. I've only beaten the first one.
Really never got into the 'second'. It's fun to play at first because it's different, but I just didn't really like it. (If you know the history of the game, you'll know why I put it in quotations... because it's not actually a Mario game. :P) I loved the third, but never beat it. And I never really got into the SNES ones all that much. Mostly because my last computer ran SNES roms so badly that it was impossible to do action and platformer games. So I never got a chance to try 'em until my most recent computer. :)

26. I finally have a controller for my computer too...
I should try the SNES emulator again with that set up.

I'll still probably suck at most of the stuff because I didn't grow up playing 'em 24/7 like most kids my age did. But still. There are always cheat codes if I need help. :P

In fact, just for the fun of it I loaded up Super Return of the Jedi recently and used the invincibility cheat codes. Unfortunately it made EVERYTHING invincible, including the enemies and obstacles. So that didn't help a whole lot.

It did make the first level a bit more fun though... I was bashing into rocks left and right and taking no damage. :)

My old one, despite my best efforts, was on its death bed. I can finally play Silent Hill and Resident Evil on my computer, haha.

29. I finally broke down and bought the cheapest one I could find.
And I downloaded an N64 and a couple of Playstation emulators. I own a playstation, but I don't have a TV.

I've been thinking about getting a used PS2 and a TV tuner for my computer though. :P

18. I keep a version of Photoshop 5 on this computer
Because it loads in less than 2 seconds. If I need the more advanced features, I can go to the office for the latest version.

I've got an old Win98 machine for running my old Need for Speed II & III and other such ancient games that don't run on this one. Sometimes I like to replay Riven or Blade Runner or Titanic. It also has an emulator with some classic arcade games.

Edited on Fri Jun-27-08 09:02 PM by Hardhead
I've never even seen version one. It was fairly tame until version 3, much better with 5, and by the time they got to CS1 it was pretty well perfect for what it is. That program has made me a lot of money over the years.

37. I should fire it up to see if it still runs on my eMac under Classic OS.
I remember Photoshop 1.07 as fun and exciting, mainly because of the painting tools - nothing so smooth and responsive had been on any program that I saw up until that point. I only had a B/W Mac at that time and I didn't do much with Photoshop at that point but it was still fun to play with.

28. Oh, and if you want to run old DOS games that don't run on Windows....
check out the program called http://www.dosbox.com/">DosBox. I've yet to find a DOS game that doesn't work in it. Some of the later 3d ones might not run great, but the latest version that I downloaded fixed most of the lag in the 3d games.

31. I have no idea
I use so many programs, I couldn't even begin to go through them. I can tell you some of my font files have dates from 15 years ago, but then, I collect fonts (110,000 last time I checked) so that's not such a big deal. (If anyone's jaw dropped, understand: I know I'm never going to use them all, I don't care, it's a fun project, and I know some font collectors with 250,000 fonts, so I'm not all that fanatical.)
