Great show tonight, and for free! Great lyrics, great hooks, great showmanship!

Rhett Miller is disgustingly hot - even though I'm old enough to be his mom! :hide:

2. I love them.
GOPisEvil and I saw them last 4th of July at the Willie Nelson Family Picnic. The lineup was Amos Lee, Old 97s, Drive By Truckers, Son Volt, and Willie. Awesome show - all of them!

6. we get a lot of free shows here since we have a great alternative radio station!
I'd never seen em before, and they get a lot of play over the years on this station.

I am sorry you weren't here, Maddy! Feel free to visit Pittsburgh any time! from what I saw of their tour schedule, they were playing everywhere, so you might get your chance soon!

:hi:

I think Rhett Miller is so sexy, but the rest of the band wasn't too bad, either. The lead guitar player is excellent.

7. I'll have to check their schedule, then!
Wow...how lucky are y'all to get free concerts...

And yes, Rhett is sexy with a capital-S. Yummy, delicious sexy.

I bet GOPisEvil will chime in on this thread. He's seen them several times in Austin at clubs, if I recall correctly. I started a thread several years ago, when I first heard them (They were on the radio--their song "The New Kid") and he said that a lot of their older albums are better than their newer stuff.

Hope he posts in your thread.

I like the songs from Rhett's solo The Instigator, like Point Shirley, The El and 4 eyed-girl. I enjoyed listening to the EL last time I was in Chicago!

His songs are really fun to sing along with in the car.

8. They're a great band...
never heard them before I got XM 4 years ago. They play them a lot on Ch. 12 X-Country. Their older stuff is really great.

9. Where are they playing?
I just hooked up my daughter's band to record with the guy who did their last CD, Salim Nourallah/Pleasantry Lane.

13. check the link in the OP for upcoming shows -
that guy recorded a local singer from a popular band here, as well.

I haven't heard the new CD so I don't know what the recording sound is like....

What kind of band does your daughter have?

The recordings are admittedly more than a bit rugged, but you'll get the idea.
