I HATE chiggers!

Made the mistake yesterday of walking out into my back field barefoot yesterday, now my lower legs are covered with itchy chigger bites.

2. My husband gets them

He works outside.

He stands in the tub and rubs bleach on his legs, that seems to kill them. You can also try putting a dot of fingernail polish over them, I think it smothers them.

14. Bleach works the best...

but be careful about applying it directly. A dip in a chlorinated swimming pool or putting a 1/4th cup in a bath tub of cool water works better. We learned this by trial and error.

6. I must have stepped on a "colony" of them with my right foot.

I have about 25 bites on my right foot & leg but only one on my left leg.

Not any more. But then mosquitoes bite me, and I'm denied the itchy bump to scratch. I guess I developed an immunity to both.

13. I had HUNDREDS of chigger bites a couple years ago

The only thing that worked was a super hot bath with some bath salts. I actually learned to do that from my "chigger thread" on DU.
