Wow... I'm A Freak Magnet!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14188908/

Seems a constant trickle and sometimes a full flowing stream of freaks...

I always thought maybe it was my work....

Okay, without a lot of details... latest evidence here in my town... freaks

can't be a "scent" 'cause it went through the internets

Is the whole world just freaks?

I don't believe that, but dayum, I don't need people who can't remember one day from the next asking me where I will spend eternity in an email from a dating site...

Or talking to someone here and then finding out that they are mentally ill and that one of their problems is that they spend too much time on the internet and IRL addicted to men/relationships... I can understand that, really. I just wasn't looking for that.

So many things like this over my life, freak magnet is all I can ascertain. I kidded about it with a friend, then I looked it up and the word describes me well, really.

So as I look at my life of freak magnetness, I am resolving to have no relationships until I stop being a freak magnet.

One person is an exception though... but never mind that :P

Anyone else a freak magnet

But not before we got soaked. We went shopping for new clothes for summer and for vacation. He really wants to see Wall-e. Was it good?

good messages

kind of an environmental message and a get off yer butt and do something about it message

and its cute.

Don't you hate that they can't call the game before you get soaked. I mean we have this thing called RADAR and we can see storms coming long before they get there.

well, vacation is coming soon isn't it for you!

that will be fun

15. I love when they do that. By that point, we were all saying, "Just
finish the game." It was the bottom of the 4th and they play 6 innings. I don't know why they can't call them before.
The kids are really excited about vacation. I dread it a bit because it is another place that is filled with memories, and Leonard never got to see our nephew. My brother named him after him.

to see a wonderful nephew that is named after a wonderful person, someone who needs love

It will be good to see family.. and meet up with some DU'ers, and just a change of scenery.

yeah, just finish the game!!!!

(unless it is lightning, then one really wonders why it wasn't called before when I knew it was going to be lightning.)

6. It's not uncommon to be a freak magnet...
I've always unknowingly been one.

It's been pointed out to me by former love interests. Once, I was in a thrift store and a freak walked up and
looked me up and down... Then shuffled off murmuring in that way they all have, "Royalty, Definitely royalty."

I didn't think much about it until my sweetie informed me of my status... By saying, "You're a freak magnet.
That's like the fifth one in the last three days."

Must be my innate charm and winsome good looks.

Or maybe it's that WE are the freaks, and everybody else is normal.

Then, one has to ask "What is normal?"

I know, I know....WAY too philosophical for a Sunday afternoon. :P

Keep popping the relaxers, babe - you're better off. ;)

no I'm not better off with the muscle relaxers, they have totally screwn me, can't do anything but sleep and it makes me feel worse.

Top that off with now I've got some stomach bug or something and I can barely move

and frankly I don't care whether I'm a freak or not a freak or a magnet or not a magnet right now...

19. I'm one
There's a special sort of freak that is attracted to me though.... I forget what the word is, but there is some word that describes what I am, physically, within gay car/club culture. Some subset of bear, I think. I wouldn't mind if the guys interested in me that way were to just politely ask me out, and I could say "no", but I get the crazies.

The best was last summer, in a packed bar, this nut job singled me out, and I tried to avoid him the whole night, but he still managed to slip in some choice things. For instance: international Jewish conspiracy to take over the world? Oh, he told me about it, except that he's all for it from the other side - he's a jew that's all for it. He finished off the night by saying, "Can I buy you a drink? You can say 'no', or you can say 'no'" - this is after, at least once or twice, ordering drinks and having them sent down the bar to me. Creepy dude, that one.

22. yeah, I thought it was just about the worst pick-up line ever
At that point I leaned over to the bartender and told him that if he hadn't already called last call, that he had to tell that guy that he had, just so he wouldn't buy me a drink. I lucked out - last call had been called already. Still, I stayed late and they gave me another drink after most people had left, because they liked me there.

25. basically!
I was house-sitting for a friend of mine in Prague, and this was one of the English-speaking bars in the city, run by two Americans. It definitely draws in all of the freaks.... like me. I also met a professional baseball player, some professional artists, a photographer, etc. a real strange mixed bag. Still, I would consider moving to the city just to go to that bar.

33. A past boyfriend of mine was a freak magnet (maybe still is).
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 01:27 PM by notmyprez
Freaks would go to him everywhere we'd go, or so it seemed. Taking the subway one morning, a man started talking at him; said he'd just gotten out of jail, had a flask on him and offered my bf a drink, etc. Any bar we'd go to, some freak would find the barstool next to him. Even happened (in a bar) when we were vacationing in Montreal. Then there was the guy in Montreal coming up to him (as we were walking down the street) to ask him in French if he had any pot. Then there was the possible junkie chick hanging out in a doorway in Boston asking him if he had a cigarette. If there are 100 people present, he is the one that is asked for a cigarette, even when he is not smoking at the time. ANd the askers are inevitably freaks (or other hard or scary looking people). That's just the tip of the iceberg.

"Or talking to someone here and then finding out that they are mentally ill and that one of their problems is that they spend too much time on the internet and IRL addicted to men/relationships... I can understand that, really. I just wasn't looking for that."

I don't pay attention to the intricacies of relationships around here, but isn't this calling someone out and being hurtful to this person? Wouldn't a gentleman work something like this our privately?
FYI: sane, independent, accomplished women like men who respect their privacy.

41. Since it has NOTHING to do with DU!!!!!- was referring to the dating site in the previous sentence
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 05:00 PM by Southpawkicker
"here" should have been "there"

no one else seemed to have thought that, but I see where you could have

if you want to know the name of it (dating web site)

Plentyoffish.com

So I apologize if this made anyone think DU, I wrote this late last night and I was referring to nothing related to DU.

I would agree with your assessment

but, in fact it is incorrect on my part and yours.

46. Ok
I hope things work out for you.

If I see something that bothers me, I'm not one to follow the majority (i.e. "No one else seemed to have thought that") so if I see something I feel is wrong, I speak my mind. I hope you realize how easily I could have interpreted this (the "here" thing) and realize it wasn't an attack. I'm sorry for any part I had in a misunderstanding.

47. Thats all right
I'm sorry too

I'm in a crabby mood and feel sick and in some ways I hate the written word on message boards, emails, IM's, etc. because it is easy to miscommunicate (easy enough in real life) and I have done that or had people misinterpret or make a mistake in what I was saying or they didn't get the sarcasm in something etc. and well, I just hate it.

sorry

glad you aren't a follower of the majority. The nursing profession needs people like that and so does the rest of the world.

I'd like to think I'm not like that either, so the "no one else" comment was I guess just my snark from my mood.
